Samantha is an intelligent and studious 15-year-old girl who lives with her mother and grandmother in Vereda el Banco, Colombia. Samantha enjoys playing basketball.
Since 2023, Samantha has been experiencing chronic tonsillitis, which has caused her pain and discomfort. She cannot carry out her activities and eat comfortably. She is often feverish, weak, and has difficulty speaking. If not treated, her symptoms will persist and possibly intensify over time.
Our medical partner, Clinica Noel, is requesting $1,022 to fund a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for Samantha, scheduled for March 31st. Surgeons will remove her tonsils, hopefully relieving Samantha of his symptoms and helping her live much more comfortably.
Samantha’s grandmother said, “My granddaughter deserves this surgery to give her a more dignified living. And, being a young athlete, she has been very depressed. There are moments of encouragement, but because when her tonsillitis attacks begin she cannot participate in what she likes the most or eat. Samantha is a happy, smiling girl, a good daughter. A good sister. A good granddaughter. I know and I am sure that this surgery will help Samantha be happy again, she will no longer feel discomfort so often, she will play basketball again, and she will be able to eat everything without having any discomfort in her throat.”

Samantha’s tonsillectomy surgery will improve her quality of life in multiple ways. By removing her tonsils, which are often responsible for recurring infections and breathing problems, Samantha will experience significant relief from her sore throat and difficulty swallowing, allowing her to enjoy meals without discomfort and fully participate in school and social activities. Furthermore, reducing the frequency of infections will benefit her overall health, resulting in fewer school absences and greater energy for playing and learning. This procedure can also improve her sleep by reducing problems like sleep apnea, positively impacting her concentration and mood. Together, these changes address her physical health and foster a more balanced emotional and social well-being, allowing her to lead a more active and happy life.
Samantha’s mother says, “I want to express our deepest gratitude for making my daughter’s surgery possible. Your support has been instrumental in improving her health and well-being. Thanks to your generosity, Samantha is on the road to a recovery that will allow her to enjoy her life without the discomfort she previously faced. We are eternally grateful for your commitment to children’s well-being and for being a beacon of hope during difficult times.”
