Rodas is a four-year-old girl from Ethiopia. She lives in a loving home with her older sister, her stay-at-home mother who cares for her daily, and her father, who works tirelessly as an electrician to provide for the family. Despite their strong bond and dedication, her condition creates a heavy, continuous strain on their household. Three years ago, Rodas started to experience snoring, mouth breathing, struggling to swallow, and loss of appetite. Nights are especially grueling. Her swollen tonsils make breathing and sleeping difficult, leaving her parents awake for hours trying to soothe her pain, bring down fevers, and administer medication. This ongoing health struggle deeply affects her day-to-day life. Frequent sickness forces her to miss school, making it hard to keep up with her classmates or enjoy regular childhood activities. Rodas was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Our medical partner, Saglan Wajee General Hospital, is requesting $700 to fund a tonsillectomy for Rodas, which is scheduled to take place on July 20th. Surgeons will remove her tonsils, hopefully relieving Rodas of her symptoms and helping her live more comfortably. "We just want these painful nights to end. We want our little girl to sleep peacefully, play with her friends, and grow up healthy. Healing her will bring our family the peace we so desperately need," said Rodas's parents.

Sok Orn is a 45-year-old rubber farmer from Cambodia. She is married and lives with her husband, who is also a rubber farmer in Tbong Khmum Province. Around their home, she enjoys planting vegetables in her free time. One week ago, Sok Orn fell while working on the rubber farm and injured her left leg. The fall caused a closed, displaced fracture of the head of her left fibula near the knee. Since the injury, she has had pain and swelling around her left knee, as well as mild swelling and bruising in her lower leg. The discomfort has made it difficult for her to walk comfortably and continue her usual work on the farm. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On October 1st, Sok Orn will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will stabilize the fracture and support healing, with the hope of helping her regain comfortable movement and gradually return to her daily activities and work. She can contribute $25, but needs help raising $575 more to fund her procedure and care. Sok Orn said, “I hope the surgery will help my knee heal and ease the pain and swelling in my leg. I want to be able to walk comfortably again and return to my work so I can continue with my normal life.”

Edward is a 63-year-old man from Malawi. He is married with five children, and earns a living through roasting and selling peanuts within his community. Although all five of his children are married, they are supporting their own families, and are unable to provide significant financial assistance. At his age, he earns very little income from his business, which is often insufficient to meet his daily needs. Three years ago, Edward was diagnosed with a right inguinal hernia, a condition that occurs when abdominal tissue protrudes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal muscles, causing a bulge in the groin area. He first noticed a small swelling, which he ignored because it was painless and he believed it would resolve on its own. Over time, the swelling began to appear intermittently, and later started causing abdominal pain and discomfort. Concerned about his worsening condition, his brother advised him to seek medical attention at Partners in Hope Medical Center (PIH). At the hospital, his diagnosis was confirmed, and a surgical repair recommended. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Edward receive treatment. On September 16th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at PIH to relieve his symptoms, allowing him to live a healthier life. Now, Edward needs help to fund this $575 procedure. He says: "Your support will give me a whole new life, and help me to enjoy my life in good health."
