Abdara is a sweet four-month-old Venezuelan girl who was born in Colombia. Abdara's mother moved to Medellin, Colombia around four years ago in search of a better life. Abdara lives with her mother and her four aunts. Abdara's Aunt Gabriela is the sole provider for their family and she works hard to meet all of their daily needs. Abdara has been diagnosed with cereberal cysts that need to be removed. Fortunately, she will undergo surgery on July 13th and our medical partner, Clinica Noel, is raising $785 to fund Abdara's medical care. Her mother shared, "Please help my little princess. I just hope she has a better future than I. Everyday I pray for a miracle, not being able to pay for her treatment is always in my mind. I feel guilty but then I remember that I'm trying my best and continue fighting in this new country to work and move forward."
Roger's parents, who are originally from Venezuela, moved to Colombia five years ago, seeking a better future for their older son. After living for two years in Medellin, Roger arrived to complete this wonderful family, giving everyone in his house joy with his little curls and his huge smile. Roger, who is two years old, lives with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which obstruct his airways. While he can breathe through his mouth when he is awake, when he sleeps, he can sometimes stop breathing suddenly. As a result, his parents take turns watching him at night, so that they can wake him up if he does stop breathing. Life in Colombia has been challenging, with Roger's father working sporadically as a handyman, while his mother stays at home to care for the children. They cannot afford to cover all of the costs associated with the tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy that Roger needs, and have turned to our medical partner, Clinica Noel, for help. Now Roger is scheduled for surgery and his family is looking to you for the $1,022 needed to fund the procedure. After he has recovered, Roger will return to making everyone laugh with his antics, while his parents will be able to sleep through the night, knowing that their son is safe. Roger's mother said: "I just hope for my kid to grow up and be normal. I'm so worried because when he sleeps he just stops breathing and we have to move him and wake him up so he can get back breathing. I'm tired; I want to sleep as well. Please help my little boy."
Antonella is a two-year-old girl who was born in Venezuela. About two years ago, her family moved to Colombia in search of better opportunities. She has two step brothers and one step sister who love to play with her. Antonella's biggest dream is becoming a doctor in the future so that she can help other kids. In the meantime, she loves to dance and she is always smiling. Antonella has been diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids. Because of her condition, she has difficulty breathing, particularly at night. She also occasionally has difficulty eating. Fortunately, our medical partner, Clínica Noel, is helping Antonella receive treatment. On March 14th, she will undergo a tonsillectomy to relieve her symptoms. Now, she and her family need help raising $1,022 to fund her procedure and care. Antonella's mother shared, "I hope this treatment can happen soon, I'm really worried for her. I can't sleep thinking she will stop breathing. Thank you all for your help, if it wasn't for you, I don't know what I would have done."
Melany is a joyful six-year-old girl from Colombia. She lives with her great-grandmother as he mother left when she was two years old. Melany loves to play with her "nana", and laughs a lot. Melany was born with Cerebral Palsy, and her great grandmother has been incredibly supportive in her treatment through the years, ensuring that she has the best possible prognosis. Due to her condition, Melany experiences recurrent hip dislocation and requires corrective surgery to help her walk. Fortunately, our medical partner, Clínica Noel, is helping Melany receive treatment. On February 14th, she will undergo corrective surgery, and, now, she and her family need help raising $1,362 to fund her procedure and care. Melany's great-grandmother shared, "my biggest motivation is seeing her walk by herself, or at least depend a little less on me. I'm afraid to die and leave her alone in a world where she only has me and her uncle."
Daiverson is an extroverted 12-year-old boy who lives with his family in Medellin, Colombia. His family moved from Venezuela seeking better opportunities. He loves to play soccer, really enjoys a good book, and loves making jokes. He's been diagnosed with a hernia, which is keeping him from doing all the things he loves and needs to do each day. With hernia surgery, he'll be able to enjoy his beloved soccer and chase his dream of being a professional soccer player one day! Daiverson's mother said: "I'm really thankful for your donation. This is the greatest gift I could ever get, thank you so much."
Darielis is a loving big sister in her family of 2 siblings. Her family moved to Medellin in Colombia three years ago due to the current situation in Venezuela. Darielis has had a hernia since birth, which has been growing rapidly. In the past she was going to school but since her mother was often called because she was in pain and suffering of bullying, she decided to take her home until everything was different. Her mom shared that even though Dairelis doesn't know what is growing in her belly, she notices the difference with other kids and prefers not talking or playing much with them. Our medical partner Clínica Noel has scheduled Darielis for life-changing hernia surgery on January 3rd. They are now raising $786 to fund her treatment. Darielis's mother says: "Thank you so much for helping my little Dairelis, this surgery will not only help her, but also help me. Since I can't send her to school I have to stay at home taking care of her. I hope she stops comparing herself to other kids and starts enjoying her life."
Said is an active and fun-loving kid. He was born in Venezuela but due to the crisis there, almost 4 years ago his parents decided to move to Colombia seeking for better opportunities. Said loves soccer and video games, and is the youngest sibling in his family. His mother shared that he was first diagnosed with cryptorchidism in Venezuela, but despite her efforts she hasn't been able to find the way to pay for his surgery or find a hospital that could help them. Surgery is important to prevent him from having testicular cancer or a hernia. Fortunately, our medical partner Clínica Noel is helping Said to access care. He's scheduled for surgery on February 2nd and his family is raising $1,167 to cover his medical treatment. Said's mother said: "I'm really glad and thankful with those that might help my little boy, I've been seeking for years for a miracle. Knowing that I don't have the resources makes me feel helpless. Thank you so much for your help."
Jacob is a 3-year-old who lives with his family in Colombia. His parents moved from Venezuela after he was born seeking better opportunities for their family. Jacob has a 6-year-old sister who loves to play with him. Jacob's family calls him their rainbow baby as after a miscarriage this little angel came to fill his parents lives with joy. He loves to play with cars and different toys, he shares everything unless it's a candy he really likes. He enjoys watching tv and singing and his favorite song is baby shark! On December 20th, our medical partner Clínica Noel will help Jacob undergo a orchidopexy procedure to heal his birth condition. They are raising $1,167 to fund his surgery and care. Jacob's mother said: "I just hope that with this surgery everything goes perfectly. I dream that he can have a normal future with a family and no health difficulties."
Israel is a one-year-old baby from Colombia who loves animals. His mother came to Colombia from Venezuela to seek better opportunities, where she fell in love with a Colombian man who became Israel's father. Israel loves to play with cars and his dog. Even though he doesn't speak a lot yet, he is constantly looking for a phone to call his grandmother. Israel was born with polydactyly of both feet. This means that he has an extra toe on each foot, which prevents him from wearing shoes and walking normally. On August 17th, surgeons from our medical partner will perform a polydactyly repair procedure to remove the extra digits. Our medical partner, Clínica Noel, is requesting $799 to fund this procedure. After surgery, Israel will be able to start wearing shoes and learn to walk and run. His mother offered advice for other mothers in a similar situation to stay hopeful: “The only thing that worried me was to know if he was going to be able to walk normally and wear shoes. I would tell a mother whose son was just diagnosed with polydactyly to just calm down and let the doctors help her, fortunately, this is not a complex pathology and the treatment already exists.”
Desiree is a three-year-old girl from Venezuela. Seven months ago, her family left Venezuela for Colombia seeking better opportunities. After tragically experiencing the loss of Desiree's siblings, Desiree fills her parents' life with joy and happiness. She loves playing with dolls and dancing. One day, her parents hope she will become a ballerina. Desiree was born with amniotic band syndrome. Her condition has affected one of her right toes, which frequently bleeds. Fortunately, our medical partner, Clínica Noel, is helping Desiree receive treatment. On December 7th, she will undergo surgery to stop the bleeding and help her live a healthy and active life ahead. After surgery, she will be able to walk, run, and dance without pain. Now, her family needs help raising $1,500 to fund Desiree's procedure and care. Desiree's mother shared, "first of all I would like to thank you all for making this all possible. Thanks to you and the donors my daughter will stop her pain. I would love to invite people to continue making their donations in order to help families that unfortunately can't pay for their kids' treatment."
Julieta is a five-month-old baby girl from Colombia with an infectious smile and laugh. When she was born, she was diagnosed with amniotic band syndrome, which has limited functionality in her hands and feet. Fortunately, our medical partner, Clínica Noel, is helping Julieta to receive treatment. On June 28th, she'll undergo corrective surgery at Clínica Noel's care center. After surgery, the functionality of Julieta's hands and feet will improve, and the procedure will prevent vascular congestion in her fingers. Now, Clínica Noel is requesting $1,500 to fund her procedure. Julieta's mother shared, "as a mother, you wish your kids never suffer from any problems, but knowing they need treatment and you can't pay for it just kills you. When I visited Clínica Noel and they told me that Watsi could help us get the money to pay for her surgery, I felt my prayers were heard."
Miguelangel is a two-year-old boy from Venezuela and the only child of a young family. Due to the economic and political situation in Venezuela, his family migrated to Colombia when he was one year old. Miguelangel lives with his cousins, mother and aunts. He loves to play hide and seek and to ride his little bike. When Miguelangel was born, he was diagnosed with cleft lip and palate. In January, he received his first cleft lip surgery. However, in order to get the cleft palate procedure he needs, he first has to have a few of his decaying teeth removed. Fortunately, our medical partner, Clínica Noel, is helping Miguelangel undergo a procedure to remove the teeth on June 14th. Now, he needs help to fund this $298 procedure. Miguelangel's mother shared, "being a foreign mother and knowing that your child doesn't have insurance coverage even though he needs help has always been stressful. Somehow, Clínica Noel has always found a person or organization to help me pay for his treatment. For sure Miguelangel has an angel protecting him."
