Sovann is a seven-year-old student from Cambodia. He lives with his parents in Sihanoukville province, near the sea. His father is a taxi driver and his mother is a housewife. Currently in second grade, Sovann dreams of becoming a teacher when he grows up. He loves eating rice with vegetable soup and watching cartoons on his mom's phone. Sovann has clubfoot on his left foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Sovann and his family traveled three hours to visit our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). There, surgeons will perform a tenotomy and casting procedure on October 9th. Sovann's family was able to contribute $100 towards his medical care but needs help raising the remaining $344. After treatment, he will be able to walk more comfortably and with better alignment. Sovann's father said, "I hope that Sovann will be able to walk more easily, and have improved development as he grows."

Leang has seven children but now lives with his wife and three grandchildren in Prey Veng Province, Cambodia. He stays home with his wife to care for their grandchildren because their parents work away from home. In his free time, he likes to listen to the radio with his wife. Around one month ago, Leang developed a large mass on the left side of his neck. The mass started growing in size. He treated it but the medicine he used caused a skin allergy. For the past two weeks, he has experienced painful swelling and redness in the affected area. He is unable to eat and is embarrassed by the change in his face. Leang was referred to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC). He and his wife traveled for nearly four hours to seek treatment. On June 18th, surgeons will perform an incision and drainage of his left neck. Leang is able to contribute $50 but needs help in raising $366 more to fund his procedure. Leang said: "After surgery, I hope this mass will stop growing and eating food will be easier."

Sok Horng is a 24-year-old woman who lives with her parents and her husband. Her parents are rice farmers and her husband works in a retail shop. At home, Sok Horng enjoys trying new recipes and listening to music. On August 25th, 2024, Sok Horng was in a motorcycle accident that resulted in a fracture of her right ring finger and a laceration of her upper lip. She was treated at a public hospital in Phnom Penh, where surgery was performed on her lip. Sok Horng came to our medical partner, Children Surgical Center (CSC), because she could not afford another surgery for her finger. Currently, she experiences swelling and intense pain, and is worried that it will make it difficult for her to work. On August 26th, Sok Horng will undergo a closed reduction and cast application surgery on her finger to ensure that the bones heal correctly, and reduce the risk of complications, allowing her to use her finger for work again. Sok Horng is able to contribute $50 but needs help to raise $435 more to fund the procedure. Sok Horng said, "I want to return to work soon and be able to help take care of my parents at home."
