Ann is a bright 12-year-old girl from Kenya. She is the firstborn in a family of six children and is a fourth-grade student. She dreams of becoming a doctor so that she can one day support vulnerable children in her community who often struggle to access healthcare services. Her father is a small-scale farmer who works hard to support his family. Ann has clubfoot in both feet, a condition that has significantly affected her mobility. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. She is unable to stand upright or walk long distances. Living in a hilly and rocky area has made everyday activities, including attending school, extremely challenging. To ensure that she does not miss classes, her father has often had to pay for motorcycle transport to take her to and from school despite the financial burden and the long distances involved. Ann experiences teasing from some of her peers, which has affected her confidence and social interactions. Ann is currently receiving treatment at our medical partner's care center, AIC Cure International Hospital, and is scheduled to undergo serial casting followed by corrective surgery to address her condition. This treatment is expected to improve her mobility, restore her confidence, and allow her to walk, learn, and thrive like other children her age. On June 10th, Ann will undergo clubfoot repair surgery, and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,286 to fund Ann's treatment and care. After her recovery, she will be one step closer to achieving her dream of becoming a doctor and making a difference in the lives of children facing challenges similar to her own. “I would love to have feet just like my friends and other children,” Ann shared. “I want to recover fully, walk confidently, and live a normal life just like my friends,” she added.

Thein is a 43-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her mother, husband, and 18-year-old daughter in refugee camp in Phop Phra District, Tak Province, Thailand. Thein’s mother is retired, her daughter is a student, and her husband is a post-stroke disable person. Thein sells mohinga (Burmese noodles) in front of her home. However, her income is not enough to cover the family’s household expenses, and they have had to borrow 12,000 THB ($375 USD) from a neighbour to meet daily life expenses. For basic health care, the family usually visits the hospital in the refugee camp, which provides free health services. Since August 2023, Thein has been experiencing continuous bleeding, similar to menstruation, which has lasted for three months at a time. She also experiences tiredness and dizziness. Thein has been diagnosed with a myoma in her uterus and has been advised to undergo a total abdominal hysterectomy, the surgical removal of her uterus and cervix. If left untreated, Thein's symptoms will continue to worsen and put her at risk for further health complications in the future. Fortunately, Thein is scheduled to undergo her hysterectomy on April 20th. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of her procedure and care. Once recovered, this treatment will help Thein be free from continuous bleeding and able to perform her daily tasks normally. Thein expressed her happiness by saying, “Thank you very much to this organisation [HFA-BCMF] and the donors for being willing to help with my treatment costs. I really want to recover from my health issue, which would not be possible without your assistance.” She also added, “I will work hard to repay my debt after I fully recover.”

Hnin is a 31-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her husband in Phop Phra District, Tak Province, Thailand. Originally from Karen State, Burma, the family relocated to Thailand for better job opportunities. Hnin and her husband work as agricultural day labourers, but Hnin had to stop working in May 2025 due to health issues. In May 2025, Hnin began to experience troubling symptoms, including pain in her lower left abdomen. She was diagnosed with left kidney stones and was referred to our medical partner's care center, Mae Sot General Hospital. She was told she needed surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse. Currently, Hnin continues to suffer from pain in her lower left abdomen, a burning sensation during urination, and lower back pain when she walks for a long time. The back pain also makes it difficult for her to breathe, and she cannot sleep well at night due to the persistent pain. On March 12th, Hnin will undergo surgery with the help of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund. She needs help raising $1,500 to fund her procedure and care. Hnin said, “Many thanks to the donors for helping me. Without your support, I would not access treatment, because I cannot afford it on my own. I truly wish for this organization that helps me to last forever, and for all the team members, including the donors, to have good health and happiness in the years ahead.”

Japhet is an eight-year-old boy from Tanzania. He is the firstborn child in his family, but due to mobility challenges and limited family resources, Japhet has never attended school. Japhet’s father supports his family through small-scale farming. Japhet has clubfoot of his left foot, a condition which was identified during a village outreach clinic. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. The tissues connecting the muscle to the bones are shorter than usual, and this causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Fortunately, Japhet's family traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, Kafika House. Surgeons there will begin clubfoot treatment on February 10th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,119 to fund Japhet's clubfoot repair. After treatment, he will gain a chance to walk more comfortably, begin school, and participate fully in community life. His parents are looking forward to Japhet having a fuller and richer life. Japhet's father said: “He struggles to walk long distances, that is why he has never been able to start school. Your assistance would go a long way in enabling him to walk better, and to start school.”

Naw Paw is a 55-year-old woman from Burma. She has been living in the refugee camp in Tak Province, Thailand, with her husband, her son, her daughter, and her grandson for more than 20 years. Naw Paw is primarily a homemaker. Together with her son, she assists in growing and selling vegetables and produce from their garden. Her daughter is also a homemaker and cares for Naw Paw’s grandson, while her husband volunteers at the camp church. The family’s limited income from vegetable growing allows them to cover only basic daily living expenses. In her free time, Naw Paw enjoys playing with her grandson, tending to the garden and speaking with neighbours. Watching her plants grow brings her happiness. However, ongoing health issues and financial uncertainty have caused her significant stress. In June 2025, Naw Paw reported lower back pain and pain in her right lower abdomen. An ultrasound was performed, which revealed gallstones. Naw Paw has been advised to undergo a cholecystectomy, the surgical removal of the gallbladder. If left untreated, Naw Paw's symptoms will continue to worsen and put him at risk for further health complications in the future. After seeking treatment through our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), Naw Paw is scheduled to undergo her cholecystectomy on January 12th. BCMF is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of Naw Paw's procedure and care. Naw Paw shared, “I am always worrying about where I can find more money, especially with my health problems. I feel very relieved and thankful to receive support from the donors during this time.”

Reyan is a lively 17-month-old boy from Ethiopia. He finds joy in playing with anything he can get his hands on, especially alongside his siblings. He lives in Addis Ababa with his parents, two older sisters, and a brother. His mother is a devoted homemaker, while his father sells fruits and vegetables. As the sole breadwinner, his father’s income is limited, providing just enough for their daily needs. If he doesn’t work, the family struggles to put food on the table, making it difficult to meet their children’s basic needs. Reyan was born with hypospadias, a condition that causes urinary dysfunction. Earlier on, his parents noticed something unusual, but did not realize it was a medical condition. The issue became clearer when they attempted to have him circumcised. The doctor advised them to wait until Reyan was three months old to allow proper skin development. Subsequent visits to another clinic revealed something was not right, leading to a referral to a specialized hospital. Reyan's parents began attending follow up clinics at the referral hospital when he was just three months old. His mother was worried, knowing her son needed surgery to correct the condition. She prayed fervently for help, but the long waiting list delayed the necessary procedure. She anxiously awaited the day when he could receive surgery and live a healthier life. Without treatment, Reyan will continue to experience uncomfortable symptoms and be at risk of future complications. Eventually, a pivotal moment came: Reyan’s mother received a call from the referral hospital about care at our medical partner's care center, BethanyKids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre (BKMCM). Overjoyed, she felt her prayers had been answered, and they eagerly made their way to BKMCM. Upon arrival, Reyan’s mother was impressed with the quality of care they received. Reyan is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on December 9th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,293 to cover the cost of his procedure and care. Reyan's mother expressed her heartfelt gratitude, saying, "We feel truly fortunate to receive this support. I waited over a year for my son's surgery, constantly wondering when it would happen. But, thanks to God's plan, we've finally been given this chance."

Hser is a 60-year-old man from Burma. He lives with his wife, children, and grandchildren in a refugee camp in Sob Moei District, Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand. His daughter is a teacher, and one of his sons is a day laborer. Hser and his wife run a small grocery shop in the camp. Every month, they receive money on a cash card from a charity organization in the camp. They also raise chickens and a pig for their own consumption. They receive free basic healthcare in the refugee camp. Since 2021, Hser has had an inguinal hernia. Hser is in a lot of pain. He experiences swelling, as well as a burning and aching sensation, preventing him from performing his daily tasks. Fortunately, on November 10th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at Mae Sariang Hospital, our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,468 to fund Hser's hernia repair surgery. Once completed, Hser will be able to live more comfortably. Hser said, “I would like my discomfort to disappear, and I would like to be able to work properly. I hope my problem will be treated after my surgery."
