Naw Kar is a 26-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her parents and five siblings. Her parents are farmers who grow beans and rice, and raise chickens for the household. Naw Kar used to be a domestic worker but had to stop because of her condition.
In late 2022, Naw Kar noticed that a hard mass beside her right ear. The mass grew bigger over time. At a local hospital, a scan revealed an acute lymphadenitis of right face, head and neck, benign neoplasm of parotid gland and the doctor told her that she needs to have surgery. However, her family could not afford the cost of the surgery.
Naw Kar traveled to our medical partner’s care center, Mae Sot General Hospital, in Thailand. She is now scheduled to undergo mass removal surgery on February 6th. Our medical partner, Burma Children’s Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 for Naw Kar’s procedure and care.
Naw Kar said, “Without your help, I would not do the surgery because I don’t have the money for it. Thank you for helping and I wish I could get the surgery successfully.” She added, “I hope I can find a job in Thailand after my treatment is finished.”
