Kidus is a cheerful, active, and sociable two-year-old boy from Ethiopia. He loves playing with other children, and enjoys toy cars. As the first child in his family, he brings immense joy to his parents. His mother is a homemaker, while his father works as an assistant to transport drivers. Their income is limited, and the family lives in a house owned by a relative. Kidus was born with hypospadias, a condition that causes urinary dysfunction. His condition was discovered shortly after birth while he was still in the hospital. The doctors informed his parents that he should not undergo circumcision, because corrective surgery would be required in the future. They advised the family to seek further medical review at a higher-level hospital. The news was very difficult for Kidus's parents. His mother became deeply distressed, and often cried because she worried about her son's future. His father was also greatly affected by the situation. Determined to find help, they took Kidus to a public referral hospital, where doctors assessed his condition and informed the family that Kidus would likely require two surgical procedures. However, because he was still young, he was put on a surgical waiting list. The family patiently waited for two years before receiving a call from the hospital. They were referred to our medical partner's care center, BethanyKids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre (BKMCM) for surgical treatment. Fortunately, Kidus is now scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on June 8th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,293 to cover the cost of Kidus' procedure and care. Without treatment, he will continue to experience uncomfortable symptoms, and he will be at risk of future complications. Mateo is a toddler from Bolivia. He is his parents' first child. He lives with his mom, who is a homemaker, and his dad, who works distributing soda. When he was born prematurely at 30 weeks, Mateo had to be in an incubator where doctors detected his heart condition. Mateo has a cardiac condition called tetralogy of Fallot (ToF), a combination of four heart conditions, including a hole between the two lower chambers of the heart, as well as a blockage that affects how blood flows out of the heart. As a result, Mateo does not get enough oxygen, leaving him weak and short of breath. On May 6th, he will undergo cardiac surgery at our medical partner's care center, Hospital del Niño Dr. Ovidio Aliaga Uría. During surgery, doctors will close the hole in his heart and remove the blockage so that blood can flow more normally. Mateo's family needs help to fund the costs of cardiac care and surgery. Our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, requests $1,500 to cover the cost of cardiac exams and diagnostics, surgical costs, follow-up care, and medications. Mateo's mother shared, "I'm grateful my child is going to receive his surgery so he can grow and be a healthy boy."

Alice is a 45-year-old business woman from Malawi. She is a single mother of three children. Her first child is a second‑year university student, the second is in Form One, and the youngest is in Primary Eight. Alice runs a small retail shop selling items such as school bags and suitcases. Since separating from her husband, her modest income must support all of the household expenses and school fees for her children. She strives every day to support her family through determination and hard work. For about two years, Alice has been experiencing uncomfortable symptoms like abdominal pain, dizziness, and fatigue. She has been diagnosed with uterine fibroids and surgery has been recommended to treat her condition. Alice believes that surgery will restore her health and enable her to continue supporting her children. She shares that her children are her motivation and she is determined to regain her strength for their well-being and future. Alice is able to contribute to her surgery, but needs additional funds for the treatment. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,363 to fund Alice's surgery. On April 9th, she will undergo a hysterectomy to remove her uterus. Once recovered, Alice will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Alice says, "This condition has been an extra burden to my life, as it hinders my concentration on the work that helps my family. I am not able to pay for my surgery as a single mother. Your contribution will go a long way into supporting my family."

Agustin is a 61-year-old man from the Philippines. He worked in a condominium building, painting, repairing, and handling overall maintenance. His pay was modest, but it helped support his family. Agustin retired in August 2024 due to age and health. His wife runs a small peanut business, and their son helps support them. Agustin noticed a mass on his jaw. He was worried it might grow larger and cause problems in the future. Doctors recommend that he undergo a parotidectomy, surgery to remove all or part of the parotid gland. This procedure treats tumors and other conditions that affect your parotid gland. Our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines, is helping Agustin undergo surgery on March 11th. He needs help raising $1,500 to fund his procedure and care. Agustin shared, "I am truly grateful for this operation. It saves me from the heavy burden of borrowing money and worrying about expenses, like what happened when my brother passed away. With this support from Watsi and the donors, I can focus on healing and look forward to more time with my family, free from financial stress."

Naw Chr is a 37-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her husband, two sons, and a daughter in a refugee camp in Thailand. Naw Chr is a seamstress while her husband grows and sells vegetables. All her children attend school. Their monthly income is just enough to cover their daily needs, but no more. During her free time, she enjoys creating beautiful clothes and learning new sewing techniques. Naw Chr is pregnant, and doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section to ensure her and her child's safety. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is asking for $1500 to cover the cost of Naw Chr's C-Section on February 10th. “In the future, I want to be a seamstress and make more beautiful suits and dresses. I’m always interested in learning new things to sew and techniques,” she said.

Jayson is 41 years old and a single father of three from the Philippines. He and his children live with his elderly parents, whom he looks after, too. He works as a food delivery rider and a courier for packages. He enjoys fish-keeping as a hobby and hopes to return to jogging and playing basketball once his condition is treated. For 23 years, Jayson has been living with an inguinal hernia. This causes persistent swelling and pain. The pain and restricted mobility have further impaired his capacity to work efficiently as a delivery rider, a job that requires prolonged sitting, lifting, and continuous movement. Fortunately, on January 9th, Jayson will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center, Our Lady of Peace Hospital. A portion of the cost of Jayson's treatment is being supported by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation. Our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines, is raising the remaining $1,038 to cover the cost of his surgery and care. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Jayson said, "This surgery will be a big help not only for me but also for my family. I could go back to work and live normally again without pain or fear that I cannot provide for my children."

Yuliana is a four-month-old baby girl from Bolivia. Yuliana lives with her mom, who is a homemaker; her dad, who works in construction; and her older brother. When Yuliana was born, her mother noticed that she struggled to breathe and was frequently agitated. Two weeks ago, Yuliana could not breathe, so her parents took her to the emergency room, where her heart problem was discovered. Yuliana has a cardiac condition called patent ductus arteriosus. A hole exists between two blood vessels next to the heart. This condition prevents Yuliana's blood from circulating properly, causing her weakness and leaving her at risk of heart failure if the condition is not treated. On December 9th, Yuliana will undergo cardiac surgery at our medical partner's care center, Hospital del Niño Dr. Ovidio Aliaga Uría. During surgery, surgeons will sew the hole closed so that blood can no longer leak through it. Yuliana's family needs help to fund the costs of cardiac care and surgery. Our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, requests $1,500 to cover the cost of cardiac exams and diagnostics, surgical costs, follow-up care, and medications. Yuliana's mother shared, "I'm grateful I could find people who can help my daughter, I pray all goes well!"

Malita is a 50-year-old married mother of eight from Dedza District, Malawi. Before her illness, she lived an active life, working on a farm. Since 2022, Malita has been experiencing painful abdominal swelling. The condition has significantly affected her daily life as both a farmer and a mother. Currently, the pain is so severe that she is unable to perform any household or farming activities, and her relatives have paused their own activities to care for her. Malita had to visit several hospitals before finally being diagnosed with uterine fibroids. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Malita's family has raised some funds for her surgery, but needs help with the remaining amount. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,363 to fund Malita's surgery. On November 8th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner's care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center. Once recovered, Malita will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Malita says, "I am in pain. Kindly save my life."
