Eh is an eight-year-old student from Burma. His family moved to Thailand five years ago for better job opportunities. Sadly, his mother passed away three years ago, and his father left Eh under the care of his grandparents, aunt, and uncle. Eh’s grandparents are retired, and his aunt and uncle are agriculture day laborers. They shared that their income is just enough to cover their family’s expenses, but they cannot afford healthcare at this time.
Recently, Eh and his friend were playing after school at a farm near their village when one of the cows suddenly took off running and ran over Eh. He fell to the ground and broke his left distal humerus and both bones in his forearm. Eh’s uncle brought him to the hospital, where the doctors gave him an x-ray and informed his uncle that Eh would need to undergo surgery at another hospital to fix the fracture. As his family could not afford the surgery costs, they returned home with some medication. When Eh’s teacher learned about the accident and how his family needed financial support, his teacher brought Eh to the hospital and received a referral to our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), for assistance. Currently, Eh is experiencing pain in his left arm and cannot move his left hand at all.
With the help of BCMF, Eh will undergo surgery on March 25th to reset his fractured bones and ensure proper healing. This surgery will help Eh to recover from the pain and be able to go back to his school. BCMF is requesting $1,500 to fund his care.
Eh’s grandmother said, “I felt pity on my grandson when I saw him in pain but I couldn’t help him. Without his teacher, we would not have come to MSH for treatment. I hope that he gets well soon so that he can play again.”
