Paw is a 24-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her parents, her husband, and seven siblings in the village in Hpapun District, Karen State, Burma. Her parents and husband are small-scale farmers with two of her siblings, while the other siblings are students. She is also a farmer and helps her family on the farm, until she became ill in October 2025. At the family farm, they grow rice, raise chickens and pigs, and forage for vegetables in the forest. Paw has a heart condition that requires replacement of the aortic and mitral heart valves, as well as the repair of the tricuspid valve. These valves control the blood flow between the chambers of the heart and are necessary to prevent long-term damage to the heart and lungs. Currently, Paw continues to experience fatigue, and she suffers from breathing difficulties when she is tired. She can no longer walk long distances. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to help fund the complex surgery that Paw needs. The procedure is scheduled to take place on July 1st. Once completed, Paw should be able to live more comfortably and to have a more active and healthy life. Paw said, “I cannot work with my parents and siblings as I get tired easily, and I feel sad for them. Once I recover, I hope to help my family, and in the future, I want to be a teacher and teach grade one and two students in my village.”

Siv Hak is a 19-year-old man from Cambodia who lives with his parents and two siblings in Kampot Province. His parents and older brother work in a garment factory, while his younger sister is in Grade 7. Siv Hak is not currently working, and enjoys listening to music and playing games in his free time. Siv Hak has had back and hip problems since 2018 that gradually worsened over time. Investigations later found osteomyelitis and discitis with spinal narrowing. After undergoing spinal fusion surgery in August 2026, the surgical wound on his back broke down and developed an infection. The wound breakdown and infection require further treatment. He currently has no sensation in both legs, which affects his mobility and ability to manage his daily activities independently. When Siv Hak learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On September 11th, surgeons at CSC will perform a debridement procedure to remove damaged and infected tissue from his back wound and help create a cleaner environment for healing. It is an important step in treating the wound infection and supporting his ongoing recovery. Now, Siv Hak's family needs help to fund this $417 procedure. He said, “I hope today’s surgery will clean the wound on my back and help it heal properly. I am looking forward to recovering from this infection and becoming more comfortable and independent in my daily life.”

Rin is 58 years old and a rice farmer from Cambodia. He and his wife have three sons and a daughter. During his free time, he likes to watch boxing. About one year ago, Rin developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so he is not able to go places on his own. When Rin learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled three hours to seek treatment. On September 7th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $263 procedure. Rin said, "I hope after surgery my eye can see better so I can go back to growing rice and corn. I don’t worry about my eye anymore."
