Nara is an active three-year-old toddler, living with his parents in Kampong Cham province. His father is a welder, while his mother works in a local factory. Nara, who is not yet in school, enjoys playing with toy cars and watching old cartoons. Unfortunately, several days ago Nara put a piece of metal into his nose. Subsequently, his parents noted that he had nasal congestion, and is sneezing frequently. Nara is also complaining of pain in his nose. Nara's parents brought him to our medical partner - Children's Surgical Centre - to be evaluated. On March 28th, surgeons at Kien Khlang National Rehabilitation Centre will be able to remove the mass from Nara's nose under anesthesia. Now, Nara and his family need your help to raise $273 to fund this procedure. Nara's parents said: "We hope Nara will get better. We also hope he learns not to put things in his nose."

Noeun is a 67 year-old retired nurse from Prey Veng province. Neoun is a widow; sadly her husband passed away two years ago from diabetes. Noeun has one son, three daughters, and eight grandchildren who keep her busy. Currently, Noeun lives with her second eldest daughter who works at home as a tailor. At home, Noeun enjoys listening to the monks pray on the radio. About two years ago, Noeun developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurry vision. Noeun has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so is not able to go places on her own. When Noeun learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled for three and half hours seeking treatment. On January 13th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, CSC is requesting help to fund this $253 procedure. Noeun shared, "I hope after the operation I can recognize faces clearly and get around easily by myself. I want to be able to help my daughter care for my grandchildren and do housework."

Beatrice is a one-month-old baby from Kenya. She is the youngest in a family of nine children. Due to the ongoing rain shortage, the parents have had to go out of their way to do casual jobs to provide for the family. The family has no insurance and cannot raise the required funds for her surgery. Beatrice was born at home, and immediately, her mother noticed she had swelling on her back. Referred by a friend to BethanyKids, her family traveled for two days and brought her in for an examination. Beatrice was born with spina bifida, a type of neural tube defect in which the spine does not properly close around the spinal cord. Without treatment, Beatrice is at risk of lower-limb paralysis, infection of the exposed nervous tissue, development of tethered cord syndrome, and possible developmental delays. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,151 to cover the cost of Beatrice's spina bifida closure surgery. The procedure is scheduled to take place on March 8th. This procedure will hopefully spare Beatrice from the risks associated with her condition, allowing her to grow and develop along a healthy trajectory. Beatrice’s mother says, “I was confused when I first saw the condition my child has, and I did not know what to do. I’m really looking forward to her surgery.”
