Varn is a 60-year-old retired rice farmer and loving grandmother. She and her husband- who is also a retired rice farmer- have one son, three daughters, and five grandchildren. Five years ago, Varn developed a pterygium in her right eye. As a result, she experiences itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. Pterygiums are non-cancerous growths of the conjunctiva, a mucous layer that lubricates the eye. These growths occur when the conjunctiva is damaged because of excessive sun exposure, making the cells grow abnormally over the pupil. As a result, Varn's vision is impaired, negatively impacting her independence. Varn needs a surgical procedure to remove the abnormal conjunctiva from the cornea surface, and to replace it with a conjunctival graft to prevent a recurrence. With the help of our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, this procedure is now scheduled for April 24th at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre. The total cost of Varn's treatment- including medications, supplies, and two days of inpatient care- is $225, and Varn needs your help to fund this procedure. Varn said: "I hope the irritation will stop and I can take care of myself and my grandchildren well."

Mercy is a two-month-old baby who is the only child of two loving parents. Mercy's mother stays at home with her, while her father is a small-scale farmer and cattle breeder. Mercy has clubfoot on her left foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape, which causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Fortunately, Mercy traveled to visit our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, where surgeons will perform her clubfoot repair surgery on March 17th. Now African Mission Healthcare Foundation is requesting $935 to fund Mercy's clubfoot repair. After treatment, she will be able to walk easily and live a life free from mobility constraints. Mercy’s mother says, “I hope that our daughter’s future will not be affected by the condition she is born with.”

Marion is a small scale farmer. She is married with seven children, all of whom attend primary and secondary school. Their family lives in a two-room semi-permanent house and relies on farming, selling surplus crops to pay for school fees and other family needs. She had sought help at various health facilities but was unable to receive treatment due to her inability to pay. However, after learning that she might receive assistance with support of donors, Marion traveled to our medical partner's care center hoping to receive treatment. Marion presented at the hospital with swelling that has been present for a year. The swelling had become increasingly painful. As a result, she is living with a poor quality of life, and is unable to perform work or day-to-day duties. Without treatment, her condition will continue to affect her daily activities. On April 12th, surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Marion needs help to raise $137 to fund this procedure. Marion says “I am stressed because am helpless since I don’t have money. I have suffered a lot with the condition, and I feel exhausted."
