Maligelita is a 42-year-old mother of six from Malawi who is married to a farmer. Before her illness, she worked as a tailor, using her skills to provide for her family and contribute to their daily needs. Six years ago, Maligelita noticed a small, painless swelling on her neck. Because it did not interfere with her daily life, she did not seek medical care at the time. As time passed, the swelling grew larger, and she began to experience pain when swallowing, tightness in her throat, and difficulty breathing. These symptoms gradually became so severe that she could no longer concentrate on her tailoring, causing her to step back from her business. In 2025, she was diagnosed with a goiter, an enlargement of the thyroid gland in the neck. The thyroid gland is responsible for producing hormones that support metabolism, growth, and other essential functions in the body. After experiencing episodes of choking at night, Maligelita returned to her local hospital and was recently referred to Partners in Hope Medical Center for urgent treatment. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is facilitating support to help Maligelita receive the care that she needs. Maligelita is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on March 10, which will cost $1,015. The surgery will hopefully help prevent further medical complications and allow her to return to her daily activities without worry. "I am very afraid. Kindly support me." said Maligelita worriedly.

Htee is a 51-year-old man from Burma who currently lives in a refugee camp in Tak Province, Thailand. He lives with his wife, their three children, and his brother-in-law’s family. The family moved to the camp in September 2024 so that Htee could seek medical treatment in Thailand. His wife and brother-in-law work as agricultural day laborers, while Htee is unable to work due to his health condition. In June 2021, Htee began experiencing troubling symptoms. Doctors diagnosed him with urinary tract stones and prescribed oral medication, which helped improve his condition for a period of time. In August 2024, Htee's symptoms worsened. After several consultations and tests, doctors diagnosed him with a prostate urethral stone and recommended shockwave lithotripsy, a procedure that uses high-energy shock waves directed via X-ray or ultrasound to shatter kidney stones. Htee is scheduled to undergo treatment on February 2nd. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to fund this procedure. With treatment, Htee hopes to recover and regain his ability to support his family. “I feel helpless and unable to support my family,” said Htee. “My wife has to be the breadwinner in this family, which makes me very sad. We are struggling financially, and I can’t even send my children to school. I am grateful for the support with my treatment and hope to be free from this suffering.”

Darian is a five-year-old student who lives in Columbia with his family. He is an intelligent, charismatic, and very friendly boy. His joy and curiosity shine through every day at preschool, where he interacts with his classmates with enthusiasm and warmth. Two years ago, Darian developed an umbilical hernia, a condition in which a small portion of abdominal tissue protrudes through the navel. He has been experiencing discomfort especially when doing everyday activities like playing, jumping, and enjoying his childhood. Darian was assessed by our medical partner, Clínica Noel, and has been scheduled to undergo surgery on May 19th. Now, his family needs help to fund this $1,005 procedure. Darian looks forward to feeling better so he can practice on being a soccer player! His mother says, "As a mother, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the opportunity given to my son.
