Srey is a 56-year-old construction worker from Cambodia. She is married and lives in Kampot Province with her husband, who also works as a construction worker. They have four children, three of whom are already married. In her free time, she enjoys growing vegetables around her home. On May 29, 2026, Srey was involved in a motor vehicle accident that caused a fracture of her right ankle. She initially received traditional Khmer medicine for approximately three months. However, her condition did not improve, and follow-up X-rays at a private clinic confirmed that the fracture had not healed properly. Her right ankle is deformed and painful, and she experiences numbness over the top of her foot. She currently relies on a walking frame to move around, making it difficult for her to walk normally, perform daily activities, and continue working as a construction worker. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On August 10th, Srey will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will help improve the alignment and stability of her right ankle. Hopefully, it will reduce her pain and numbness, improve her ability to walk, and allow her to return to her daily activities and work more comfortably. She can contribute $50, but needs help raising $550 more for her procedure and care. Srey said, “I hope the treatment will help my ankle heal properly, reduce my pain, and allow me to walk more comfortably again. I want to return to my work and daily activities so I can continue supporting my family.”

Enos is a 59-year-old man and father of three children from Uganda. He and his wife depend on small-scale farming as their primary source of livelihood. Together, they cultivate crops to feed their family and earn some income to meet household needs, including their children's education. In his free time, Enos enjoys singing at church, which brings him spiritual comfort and happiness, as well as watching television and spending time with his family. He values his role as a husband and father and takes pride in contributing to his family's well-being through farming. Last year, Enos noticed a swelling developing around his right ear. Initially, the swelling appeared manageable, but it has progressively increased in size. The uncertainty surrounding the nature and progression of the swelling has also caused him considerable anxiety. Concerned about his condition, Enos sought medical attention and was given an ultrasound scan. The findings were suggestive of a benign tumor located in front of his right ear. After clinical assessment, surgical intervention was recommended to address the swelling. Enos is scheduled to receive surgery on his right ear on November 3rd at our medical partner's care center, Rushoroza Hospital. This procedure and care will cost $134. Doctors are hopeful that this procedure will help Enos regain his health and allow him to return to his farming and social activities. Enos shares, "I am worried about the swelling that has continued to grow near my right ear, and I wish to have it treated before it causes me further complications. Unfortunately, my wife and I live on small-scale farming, and our limited income is already committed to supporting our three children and paying their school fees. We cannot afford the cost of the recommended surgery on our own. I kindly appeal to donors to support me so that I can undergo the operation, recover, and return to my farming activities and family responsibilities. Abdeta is a farmer from Ethiopia. He is an 80-year-old father of five sons and two daughters and has farmed with just one eye for most of his life after losing his right eye as a child. For decades, he managed remarkably well on his own. Despite losing his right eye in a sudden accident, he never let anything stop him from working day and night to provide for his wife and kids. Now, a growing cataract in his left eye—his only working eye—is rapidly taking away his remaining sight. Without a clear vision, he can no longer farm or care for himself, making urgent medical treatment essential for him to get his life back. Losing the vision in his only good eye has completely changed his life, taking away his physical independence and daily peace of mind. Everyday activities that used to keep him self-reliant—like farming, walking safely around his home, and taking care of himself—are now dangerous or impossible. Fortunately, on August 1st, Abdeta is scheduled to undergo cataract surgery with the help of our medical partner, Saglan Wajee General Hospital. Surgeons will remove and replace the blurred lens. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to raise $150 to fund this procedure. Abdeta is confident that after his surgery, he will return to work fully focused, ready to give it his total attention, and pick up right where he left off. He shared, "My goal is to stop relying on others for help, feel safe walking without fear of falling, and get my life and self-reliance back."
