Aaliya is a three-year-old girl who lives in Tanzania with her single mother and her sibling. Her mother makes and sells snacks by the roadside. Earlier this year, Aaliya was burned on her chest and left arm by hot tea while in the kitchen. She was taken to the nearest medical center and received first aid and medication to use at home. While at home, her aunt helped with her dressings to keep her wound dry and clean. However, they did not have enough money for hospital care. Despite their efforts at home, there was no improvement in her wound, and Aaliya continued to have frequent fevers. Aaliya was referred to our medical partner's care center and doctors determined she needs a skin graft to facilitate the healing process. On July 9th, Aaliya will undergo surgery and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $693 to fund this procedure. Aaliya’s mother says,“I just can’t wait for the wounds on my daughter’s body to heal, she has been through a lot and I feel sorry for her.”

Sovann is a seven-year-old student from Cambodia. He lives with his parents in Sihanoukville province, near the sea. His father is a taxi driver and his mother is a housewife. Currently in second grade, Sovann dreams of becoming a teacher when he grows up. He loves eating rice with vegetable soup and watching cartoons on his mom's phone. Sovann has clubfoot on his left foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Sovann and his family traveled three hours to visit our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). There, surgeons will perform a tenotomy and casting procedure on October 9th. Sovann's family was able to contribute $100 towards his medical care but needs help raising the remaining $344. After treatment, he will be able to walk more comfortably and with better alignment. Sovann's father said, "I hope that Sovann will be able to walk more easily, and have improved development as he grows."

Neisha is a toddler from Haiti. She lives with her parents and older brother. Her father works in construction and her mother is a homemaker. She likes playing with the other children in her neighborhood and helping her mother make food. Neisha has a cardiac condition called Tetralogy of Fallot, where a hole between the two lower chambers of the heart and a muscular blockage of one of the valves are present. These prevent blood from circulating through her lungs, leaving her weak and short of breath. Neisha will fly to the Dominican Republic to receive treatment. On July 17th, she will undergo cardiac surgery, during which surgeons will patch the hole in her heart and remove the blockage from her valve. Another organization, Haiti Cardiac Alliance, is contributing $8500 to pay for surgery. Neisha's family also needs help to fund the costs of surgery prep. They need $1,500 for labs, medicines, checkups, and follow-up appointments. It also supports securing travel documents for the social workers from our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, who will accompany Neisha's family overseas. Neisha's mother says, "Our family is so glad to know that we will soon be able to stop worrying so much about our daughter's heart!"
