Immediately after 3-day-old Victor was born, he was referred for further care when a mass was found on his lower back.
“We were very surprised when we saw the mass,” shares Victor’s mother.
The cystic mass puts Victor at risk of developing severe infection. “He could also develop spinal complications such as kyphoscoliosis (abnormal curving of the spine) and tethered cord (malformation of the spinal cord) if not treated soon,” shares our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF).
“Victor’s parents live in a three roomed iron sheet house,” adds AMHF. “Victor’s father income is not enough for household needs let alone to pay for his son’s surgery.”
For $805, we can fund the surgery needed to reduce Victor’s risk of spinal complications.
Victor’s mother shares: “I am thankful that this is treatable and that my son will have a normal life. I pray for a successful surgery and his quick recovery.”
