Janet is a 45-year-old businesswoman and mother from Malawi. She and her husband separated a few years ago. Her family resided in South Africa, but Janet and her 27-year-old daughter moved back to Malawi to continue her business. Janet enjoys a peaceful life of working alongside her daughter.
For three years, Janet has been experiencing worrisome symptoms, so she visited her local hospital and was diagnosed with uterine fibroids. Due to the long wait time for care at that facility, she needed to seek support elsewhere. Fortunately, Janet met a former patient of our medical partner’s hospital who encouraged her to seek support with them. After review, the doctors at our medical partner confirmed her diagnosis and determined she needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is requesting $1,363 to fund Janet’s surgery. She was able to contribute $58.80 to her medical care. On February 7th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at AMH’s hospital. Once recovered, Janet will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain.
Janet said, “I am now 45 years old, and I hope I will be assisted accordingly since I have been waiting to reach the eligible age despite my problems getting bad. I thank you for taking me on board.”
