Stacy is a 10-year-old girl from Kenya. Since she was young, Stacy has grown up living in a children's home since both parents are not in her life. She shared that it was hard when she was first arrived but eventually Stacy started opening up and finding joy in the small moments, playing with her mates, and even enrolling in school. Currently in Grade 3, life has been a journey that has had lots of ups and downs. For years, Stacy has had umbilical hernia, which is a tissue bulge in the belly button area, occurring due to a weak spot in the abdominal wall. Stacy has been experiencing on and off pain at the site and was under pain medication, which did not provide lasting relief. One day, the home management came across information online, about our medical partner's care center, BethanyKids Kijabe Hospital (BKKH). After a call to BKKH, Stacy was brought to the hospital where she underwent a series of tests. Stacy's diagnosis was confirmed, and she has now been scheduled for a hernia repair surgery, on August 10th. Unfortunately, the home's management, dependent on well-wishers for their running, cannot afford to pay for her surgical treatment. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Stacy receive treatment. The procedure will cost $585, and once completed, Stacy will live a healthier life, free from her painful symptoms. She says: "I have had to stay back many times as my friends went to school because of the pain. I hope that after surgery I won't have to skip school anymore."

Srey Neth is a cheerful little girl from Cambodia. She is 21 months old and lives with her parents and three older siblings. Her oldest brother is in Grade 5, her second brother is in Grade 1, and her older sister is five years old. Her father works in construction, while her mother stays home to care for the children and manage the household. Her favorite foods are sour fish soup and oranges. During her free time, she enjoys playing with slime with her older sister and watching cartoons together. Srey Neth has congenital pseudarthrosis of the right tibia, a condition that causes the bone to develop and heal abnormally. Her right lower leg is curved, and despite previous surgery and pin placement, the bone has not healed properly. The unhealed tibia and leg position affect the stability and development of her right leg. She needs further surgery to stabilize the bone and support healing so that she can have a better chance of standing, walking, and playing normally as she grows. Srey Neth's family learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), and sought treatment. On August 13th, Srey Neth will undergo surgery that will improve her strength and mobility. Now, she needs help to fund this $582 procedure. Srey Neth's mother said, “I hope this surgery will stabilize my daughter’s right tibia and give her bone a better chance to heal so that, as she grows, she can eventually stand, walk, and play normally.”

Samuel is a 10-year-old boy who lives in Medellín with his family. He is known for being intelligent, charismatic, and very friendly. His infectious energy and kindness leave a special impression on everyone who meets him. He enjoys spending time with those around him, learning new things, and dreaming big. When Samuel grows up, he’d like to become a professional soccer player or an industrial engineer specializing in vehicles, reflecting his passion for both sports and innovation and technology. When he was two years old, Samuel developed an umbilical hernia, a condition in which a small portion of abdominal tissue protrudes through the navel. Samuel's parents took him to hospital where doctors recommended hernia repair surgery to treat his condition and prevent possible future complications. Fortunately, on August 27th, Samuel will undergo repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, Clinica Noel, is requesting $1,005 to fund Samuel's procedure, which, once completed, will allow him to live a healthier life. Samuel says, "I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. My parents have been trying for a long time to get this surgery through our health insurance provider, but it hasn’t been possible. Thanks to you, today there is hope and an opportunity to improve my health and quality of life. We will never forget this generous gesture.
