Meet Cho, a baby girl living in Burma with her parents. Cho’s mother owned a food and drink stand, which she stopped managing when she became pregnant with Cho, and her father is a day laborer and taxi driver. Living on one income has been difficult since Cho was born.
Cho was born prematurely in a local hospital, unequipped with the oxygen and incubator Cho needed to get a healthy start. Worried for their newborn baby, Cho’s parents took her to a hospital in Thailand for treatment where doctors noticed she has a serious eye condition; stage 3 Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP). This disease, which is caused by disorganized growth of retinal blood vessels, can result in scarring and retinal detachment. Without treatment, Cho’s eye may deteriorate and she may become blind.
Fortunately, we can raise $1500 to give Cho a lens replacement surgery. With treatment, Cho will have the gift of sight for her whole life. What are we waiting for?

Cho received lens replacement surgery to prevent blindness and restore vision for the rest of her life.
“Since having lens replacement surgery in July, Cho’s right eye is showing positive signs that she has vision out of her right eye,” our medical partner tells us. “Because she is young and cannot yet talk, doctors are not able to accurately gage her vision. However, her mother said before surgery she wouldn’t open her eyes in the morning. Now, she opens them in the morning without hesitation. Her mother also said when she covers her healthy eye and dangles toys in front of Cho, Cho is quick to grab it out of her hand. She also seems to be happier and has more energy.”
“Her parents are very grateful for her treatment and feel optimistic about her future,” her doctors add.
