Naung is a 64-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her husband and their disabled son in Karen State, Burma. She and her husband are retired and depend on the support from their daughter who works in Bangkok, Thailand. Naung enjoys meditating, listening to the monk’s sermon, and planting vegetables around her house.
Naung has been diagnosed with cataracts and glaucoma in both eyes. Her eyes itch and tear. She cannot see clearly making it difficult for her to perform her daily tasks.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to fund lens replacement surgery for Naung. On November 19th, doctors will perform a lens replacement, where they will remove Naung’s natural lenses and replace them with an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $1,500 procedure.
Naung said, “My daughter needs to quit her job to look after me so the financial is the biggest problem for my family during my treatment. Thank you so much to the donors for the treatment support. Without your help, I might need to borrow money with high interest.”
