83-year-old Grifin has been married to his wife for the past 51 years. They live in Malawi and have had six children and 13 grandchildren. He works as small-scale farmer.
Grifin was recently diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), an age-associated prostate gland enlargement that can cause urination difficulty. The enlarged prostate squeezes the urethra, weakening the bladder wall. About half of all men between the ages of 51 and 60 have BPH.
Grifin will receive a prostate resection thanks to the care of the doctors at our medical partner, World Altering Medicine. The $742 minimally invasive surgery will remove part of the prostate gland and will improve the flow of urine through the urethra.
“I simply need help,” Grifin shares. Along with his wife, Grifin is happy and looking forward to the results of his surgery. He is eager to get back to his productive routines on the farm and at home.
