Juliana is an 86-year-old woman from Lilongwe District in Malawi. She is a mother of three children, who unfortunately did not complete their school studies due to financial constraints. Currently, all three of her children are married and living in their own homes, but are struggling financially. With her husband deceased, Anna relies on the kindness of others for assistance as she is no longer able to support herself in her old age. For a period of eight years, Juliana has lived with a swelling on the right side of her neck that started as a pimple. Presently, Juliana has been feeling pain from the swelling and is unable to carry any load on her head due to severe headaches. She has been to different health centers in search of a solution until she visited our medical partner care center, Nkhoma Hospital. A biopsy was done and she was diagnosed with pleomorphic adenoma, which is is a benign tumour that affects the salivary glands. She has been scheduled to undergo parotidectomy surgery. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Juliana receive treatment. On April 9th, surgeons at Nkhoma Hospital will perform a parotidectomy which will ease her pain symptoms and treat her condition. Now, Juliana needs help to fund this $491 procedure. Samuel is a 44-year-old small-scale farmer and driver from Malawi, married with six children. When he was younger, Samuel was unable to complete secondary school due to financial constraints. He decided to shift his focus to being a farmer and a driver. Three weeks ago, Samuel was on his way to the market when he was hit by a vehicle, sustaining injuries to his right leg. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and was then referred to our medical partner's care center, Nkhoma Hospital. Samuel was diagnosed with lower leg and ankle fractures, and surgery was recommended. Presently, Samuel is in pain - he is unable to walk or work to support his family, and cannot raise funds for his treatment. If the condition is left untreated, there may be nonunion or malunion, with worsening pain and swelling over time. Fortunately, our medical partner, Africa Mission Healthcare, is helping Samuel receive treatment. On April 23rd, Samuel will undergo an open reduction and internal fixation surgical procedure, to promote healing and eventually enable him to resume work. Now, Samuel needs your help to fund this $636 procedure. Samuel says, “Thank you for this rare opportunity for support, I am looking forward to full recovery after treatment.”

Cyrus is an energetic young boy from Kenya. He completed his national exam last month. Cyrus is the 2nd born of a family of five children. The 1st born is 17 years, while the last born is in grade 2. His mom is a single parent, who is currently unemployed and working small jobs that she can get to make ends meet. She has been taking care of the five children by herself with no consistent source of income. He lives in single rental room which they pay $15 per month. His mother was referred to our medical partner's BethanyKids Hospital by a local doctor in a nearby facility to correct the condition. They came to BethanyKids and the doctor examined him, he has recommended surgery. This surgery will enable him to live a normal life like other children urinating properly. Cyrus was born with hypospadias, a congenital abnormality that causes urinary dysfunction. Without treatment, he will continue to experience uncomfortable symptoms and will be at risk of cancer and infertility. Fortunately, Cyrus is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on December 4th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $847 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care. Cyrus's mother says, “This condition will affect his self-esteem. He already feels low and sad because of the condition.”
