Jorgelis is a 10-year-old student from a town in Antioquia, Colombia. She is cheerful and intelligent, with a sweet energy that is contagious and leaves a special impression on everyone around her. Jorgelis dreams of becoming a great doctor when she grows up so she can help others. Since she was a few months old, Jorgelis has had an umbilical hernia, a condition in which a small portion of abdominal tissue protrudes through the navel. This condition causes discomfort or tenderness, especially when crying, coughing, or straining. The discomfort can also make it hard for kids to do everyday childhood activities, such as playing and jumping. If left untreated, there is a risk of developing future health complications. Jorgelis needs to undergo surgery to correct the hernia and prevent potential future complications. Fortunately, on May 28th, she will undergo repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Once completed, this procedure will allow her to live more comfortably. Our medical partner, Clinica Noel, is requesting $1,005 to fund Jorgelis's surgery. Jorgelis's family shared: "We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has made this donation for the surgery possible. This support means the world to our daughter and to us as a family. We trust in God and the doctors that everything will go well and that her recovery will be quick and successful. What we long for most is to see her healthy, happy, and full of life, so that she can continue to grow and fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor and helping many people."

Yonatan is a lively six-year-old boy from Ethiopia. He lives in a close-knit family of four. Yonatan is growing up alongside his brother in a home filled with love, supported by his hardworking father, who drives a taxi, and his caring mother, who stays home to look after the boys. While Yonatan's father spends long, tiring hours on the road to provide for everyone, the boy’s happy childhood has been interrupted by a difficult health battle. Because of chronic tonsillitis, he is stuck in a stressful loop of recurring pain and constant trips to the hospital, which keep him away from the fun and games he loves. Two years ago, Yonatan had been experiencing fever, recurring sore throats, and difficulty swallowing. Because his high fevers and sharp throat pain kept coming back, even the simplest parts of his day have become incredibly hard. Sitting down for a family dinner is no longer fun. Instead, every bite of food is a painful struggle that leaves Yonatan exhausted. Even at night, when he should be resting, the discomfort keeps him awake and tossing and turning. This constant battle leaves Yonatan feeling so weak and drained that he just can’t find the strength to run, jump, or keep up with his brother like he used to. Yonatan was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils, which, if not treated, will cause his symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Fortunately, our medical partner, Saglan Wajee General Hospital, is able to help. They are requesting $700 to fund a tonsillectomy for Yonatan, which is scheduled to take place on March 4th. Surgeons will remove his tonsils, hopefully relieving Yonatan of his symptoms and helping him live more comfortably. "In our home, we are all counting down the days until Yonatan feels like himself again. What we are most excited about is seeing him enjoy his favorite snacks without that sharp, burning pain every time he tries to swallow. We miss seeing Yonatan full of life, and we can’t wait for him to finally have the strength to run around and keep up with his brother during playtime. For our family, seeing him healthy and active again will be the greatest gift of all," said Yonatan's parents.

Emily is a 10-year-old girl who lives in Medellín, Antioquia, with her mother and grandmother, who have been fundamental pillars in her upbringing. She stands out for her intelligence, education, and strong values, especially her respect for others. Her empathy makes her a great friend, always willing to listen and understand those around her, and her shy nature makes her even more charming. Passionate about dancing, Emily finds in music a way to express herself freely. And if there is one thing that makes her smile just thinking about it, it's pasta: her favorite food. Emily is a student and stands out at school as an exemplary student: she is attentive, active, and committed to all her duties. Her dedication and curiosity make her a student admired by her teachers and classmates. One year ago, Emily was diagnosed with an umbilical hernia, a bulge at the belly button caused by abdominal contents pushing through a weakness in the abdominal muscle wall. The condition has been causing her discomfort and tenderness in the navel area, especially when crying, coughing, or doing any strenuous activity. The discomfort has made it difficult for her to play, jump, or participate in physical activities, limiting her ability to fully enjoy her childhood. Fortunately, our medical partner, Clinica Noel, is helping Emily receive treatment. On September 26th, she will undergo repair surgery, alleviating her symptoms and enabling her to live a healthier life. Now, Emily's family needs help to fund this $786 procedure. Emily's mother said, "Thank you so much for your generosity and support. Your act of kindness will make a huge difference in my daughter's life and in our family. We are deeply grateful for your compassion, for supporting us at a time when we need it most. Thank you for believing in Emily, and for helping us give her a fuller childhood, with opportunities that will shape her future."
