Meet baby Poe Sa, a one-year-old boy from Burma. Shortly after Po Sa was born, his mother noticed signs that something was wrong. He seemed sick, with discolored stool, vomiting, and dark colored urine.
Poe Sa was diagnosed with biliary atresia, a disease of the liver. In the congenital form, which is what Poe Sa has, the common bile ducts between the liver and the small intestine are blocked or missing.
Poe Sa and his mother visited multiple clinics to seek treatment but were turned away for their inability to pay. Po Sa’s mother hopes that, once healthy, her son will grow up to get an education and eventually become a doctor who can help others. For $1500, Po Sa can receive a surgery that will remove the blockage in his bile ducts and allow him to live a healthy life!
