Sai is a 47-year-old man from Burma. He lives with his wife and two young children in an internally displaced people’s camp in Shan State. He and his wife are unemployed while his sons are students in the camp. In his free time, Sai enjoys doing household chores, such as cutting grass, with his wife.
On July 17th, 2025, Sai was riding his motorcycle when his bike slid and fell on the muddy road. The fall caused a fracture in his left clavicle. Currently, Sai cannot move his left arm, experiences constant pain, and when he turns his head, he has a sense of tightness in the left side of his neck.
With the help of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Sai will undergo surgery to reset his fractured bones and ensure proper healing. The procedure is scheduled for August 14th and will cost $1,500. This procedure will help restore mobility in his left arm and decrease his pain.
Sal said, “I feel sad and depressed now because I can’t use my arm, and I can’t do anything. I hope to recover fully and live happily with my family in the future.”

Before surgery, Sai could not move his left arm. When he moved his head, he had discomfort. After surgery, he can move his left arm and head freely without pain. He no longer needs to wear an arm sling, and he can look after himself with basic daily life activities. He is very happy that he received surgery. His condition has greatly improved.
Sai said, “Before surgery, I worried that I would not be able to use my left arm again, as I could not move it around and also experienced some pain. However, now I am recovering, and I will go back home to rest and avoid lifting heavy objects according to the doctor’s suggestions. I will look for a paying job after I can lift a heavy object again. Please pass on my sincere thanks to all the donors for helping me.”
