Jacob is a six-year-old boy from Kenya. He is the youngest of two children. His mother is a single parent who does casual jobs for neighbors like washing clothes and cleaning. Jacob enjoys playing football, singing, and drawing at home and school.
Jacob was born with multiple conditions, including spina bifida, where there is an incomplete closing of the spine, and bilateral clubfoot, where both feet are twisted out of shape. He had surgery to address his spina bifida condition when he was just one week old, and he started serial casting for his feet at two months old. However, his condition did not improve. Clubfoot makes it difficult for Jacob to walk and wear shoes.
Fortunately, Jacob and his mom traveled to visit our medical partner’s care center, AIC Cure International Hospital. There, surgeons will perform clubfoot repair surgery on November 12th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,286 to fund Jacob’s clubfoot repair. After treatment, he will be able to walk, play freely, and continue his education like other children.
Jenifer shared with a hopeful smile, “I can’t wait to see my son walking like other children and going back to school. It means everything to me to see him happy, playing, and learning just like other kids.”
