Rue is a 27-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her husband, her mother, and her son in a refugee camp in Mae Hong Son province, Thailand. She was originally from Karen state in Burma. She came to the refugee camp with her mother when she was 11 years old due to the military attacks in their village. Her father passed away when she was 2 years old. She enjoys making Karen traditional dresses so she can sell them to help support the family. She and her husband also have a small vegetable farm.
Rue is currently expecting her second child. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section due to a high-risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Rue undergo a C-Section on June 11th. This procedure will cost $1500, and Rue needs your support.
Rue said, “I hope to make traditional Karen dresses again after I give birth and when my baby grows up a bit.’’
