Soe is a 33-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her parents, husband, son, and niece in the refugee camp in Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand. She and her husband grow vegetables in the camp. Sometimes, her husband can find day jobs outside the camp which helps support the family. They primarily rely on help provided by aid organizations at the camp.
Soe is expecting her second child and her doctors recommend she deliver via a caesarean section due to a high-risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Soe undergo a C-Section on December 4th. This procedure will cost $1,500, and Soe needs your support.
Soe said, “I wish to have a girl, and it will be perfect if it is a girl since I already have a son. But if it is a boy also, we are happy that he came into our life.” She added, “I would like to be a healthcare worker who works in a hospital so I can take care of my family and my community in the future, I will try to attend training and work at the hospital in the camp when my child grows up.”
