Phyu is 44-year-old seamstress from Thailand. She lives with her roommate, who works at the same factory. In her free time, Phyu likes to cook, clean, and talk to her daughter who lives in Myanmar.
At the beginning of 2023, Phyu started experiencing back and abdominal pain. After seeking treatment she was diagnosed with adenomyosis, a condition where endometrial tissue grows into the uterine wall. She has been advised to undergo a total abdominal hysterectomy, which is the surgical removal of her uterus and cervix. If left untreated, Phyu’s symptoms will continue to worsen and put her at risk for further health complications in the future.
Fortunately, Phyu is scheduled to undergo her hysterectomy on July 9th. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of her procedure and care. Once recovered, This procedure will eliminate her pain and allow her to return to work.
Phyu said, “I really hope I can continue to sew after the surgery, as I enjoy doing it and I like my career.”
