Vireak Both is an 18-year-old senior in high school from Cambodia. He lives with his mother and two younger siblings. His mother works as a cleaner in a nearby commercial building, and his younger siblings attend elementary school. In his free time, Vireak Both enjoys playing soccer with his friends and watching Cambodian dramas. Since birth, Vireak Both has presented with preauricular sinus skin pits on both sides of his ear. Due to this condition, he has recently been experiencing pain, swelling, redness, and frequent pus in his right ear. If the cyst is not removed, it could cause worrisome problems like infections or more cysts forming due to trapped bacteria. Vireak Both traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On June 5th, surgeons at Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), will remove the mass. Vireak Both's family is able to raise $50 toward his care and needs help to raise $223 more to fund this procedure. Vireak Both shared that he hopes the cyst will be removed so he can focus on his studies and not have to worry about it growing in size anymore.

Chantha is a 36-year-old snacks and drinks seller from Cambodia. She lives with her husband and four sons in a remote area of the country. All of her children are in school, except for the youngest, who is four years old. At home, she spends her time helping her children with their homework. On April 2, Chantha was in a motorcycle accident and fractured her right femur. She initially sought treatment from within her province, however, the fracture remains unstable, and she continues to experience pain in her right femur and needs crutches to support her. Given her current situation, she can no longer walk or push her food cart. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On August 20th, Chantha will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will immobilize the bone for optimal healing, reduce pain, and eventually restore her mobility, enabling her to walk again. Chantha is able to contribute $75 but needs help to raise $408 more to fund her procedure. Chantha says, "I want to walk again so I can return to selling food and support my family."

Collins is a freelance electrician from Kenya who relies on casual labor for income to support his family. Collins is the family's main provider, consisting of his four younger siblings, his widowed mother, his wife, and their two-year-old child. In October 2022, Collins was involved in a serious motorcycle accident on his way home from work and fractured his left leg. After surgery, an internal fixation device was installed, but unfortunately, he was still unable to walk and continued to experience pain even after his discharge. Scans revealed the device was misplaced, resulting in further surgery to remove and replace the device. The second set of surgeries was a success and Collins could finally walk again. Tragically, in July 2024, Collins suffered another setback. He slipped and fell in the bathroom, fracturing the bone above his left knee. He was diagnosed with a fracture of the left distal femur which requires immediate surgery. Unfortunately, Collins cannot afford the cost of the surgery. His insurance covered previous medical expenses but has now reached its limit. On September 16th, Collins will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. This procedure will help him walk again, regain his livelihood, and continue supporting his family. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, requests $1,042 to fund this procedure. Collins says, “My family has struggled since my accident, I am unable to provide for them and this pains me so much.”
