Say hello to Elmica, a two-year-old girl from Haiti.
Elmica was born with a cleft lip and palate, a common birth defect which prevented Elmica’s from forming properly. “She has difficulties eating normally,” Project Medishare tells us.
When Elmica was a little younger, her mother took her to a hospital in the countryside where they live to see if she could get care. The hospital did not have a plastic surgeon so nothing could be done at that time.
Elmica’s family is very hopeful that she will receive care. And with $960 from us, they will be able to afford the cleft lip and palate repair surgery she needs.
Let’s make it happen!

Elmica received cleft lip and palate repair surgery.
Elmica’s doctors were able to repair her cleft lip and palate, allowing her to eat and drink normally, and preventing future health problems.
Elmica’s mother reports: “She is making progress, she has started to drink fluids and that is a very good thing. I feel very happy because the surgery happened very well and Elmica is healthy after the surgery.”
“It is a very good change that this surgery is about to bring into our lives,” Elmica’s mother adds.
