Khirika is an eight-year-old 3rd-grade student from Cambodia. She lives with her parents and siblings in Banteay Mean Chey province. Her father runs a coffee shop, while her mother sells clothes. She enjoys studying Khmer, playing with balls and toys with her siblings, and hopes to become a nurse in the future. For the past year, Khirika has been experiencing a cough, an itchy throat, difficulty swallowing and breathing, loud snoring at night, and repeated episodes of pharyngitis. Her frequent throat infections and breathing difficulties can make eating and sleeping uncomfortable, while the repeated episodes of illness affect her ability to enjoy her normal activities. Khirika was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $345 to fund a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for Khirika, which is scheduled to take place on September 3rd. Surgeons will remove her tonsils and adenoids, hopefully relieving Khirika of her symptoms and helping her live much more comfortably. Khirika's mother said, “I hope the surgery will help my daughter breathe and swallow more easily and reduce her frequent throat infections. I want her to sleep peacefully without so much snoring and grow up healthy and active.”

Anderson is 62 years old and a farmer from Malawi. He had hoped to spend his days tending his fields and enjoying the company of his wife and grandchild. Living in a village in Dedza District, Malawi, he and his wife have watched their six children grow up, marry, and build lives of their own. However, nine months ago, Anderson started experiencing troubling symptoms that affected his ability to farm and do his daily tasks. He was diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia. He started using a catheter and was given medications, but these only brought temporary relief. Physicians at our medical partner's care center, Nkhoma Hospital, determined that Anderson should undergo a prostatectomy, surgery to remove part or all of the prostate. For Anderson, the possibility of treatment has brought renewed hope. Yet the cost of surgery remains beyond what he and his family can afford. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, can help. Anderson is scheduled to undergo surgery on June 11th, and needs help raising $530 to fund this procedure. Once completed, it will hopefully improve Anderson's quality of life. More than anything, Anderson wants to regain his health, return to his farm, and once again provide for his household without the burden of constant illness. He says, “This condition has kept me away from my fields and changed my life. I hope that after treatment, I can get back on my feet and live freely again.”

Mopin is a 29-year-old blacksmith from Cambodia. He lives in Tbong Khmum Province with his wife and their three-year-old son. His wife stays at home to care for their child. In his free time, he enjoys playing football with his friends in the village. In May 2026, Mopin suffered an electric shock and fell from a staircase, causing a fracture-dislocation of his left shoulder. After the accident, he received traditional treatment, but his pain and limited shoulder movement did not improve. Nearly two months later, he visited a local health center, where an X-ray revealed a fracture-dislocation of the left humeral head. He continues to experience severe shoulder pain, deformity, and restricted movement, making it difficult to lift or use his left arm. As a result, he is unable to work as a blacksmith or perform many everyday activities independently. Mopin was referred to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), for specialized care. On July 15th, Mopin will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will stabilize the fractured shoulder, restore its alignment, reduce pain, and improve arm movement so he can return to work and daily activities. He can contribute $50, but needs help raising $550 more to fund his procedure and care. Mopin said, "I hope this surgery will take away my shoulder pain and help me move my arm normally again. I want to return to work and take care of myself without depending on others."
