Moth is a 32-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He is married and lives with his wife, who works in a garment factory, and their two children, one in Grade 5 and the other in kindergarten. Before his injury, he enjoyed playing volleyball with friends in his village. On August 9, 2026, Moth was lifting a 30-foot iron pole while working on his home when it came into contact with an electrical wire. The resulting electrical burns severely injured both his hands and feet. Although he received treatment, he continued to have painful wounds and dead tissue on his feet, requiring further treatment at Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC). His injuries have made daily activities difficult because of pain and limited movement in his left wrist and fingers. He has been unable to return to his usual work, leaving his wife to support the family alone. The cost of treatment has also placed the family under significant financial pressure, and he still has debts to repay. Moth has been experiencing pain and has damaged, blackened skin on both feet, with dead tissue and an infection around the toes of his right foot. His doctors recommend an amputation of the 4th and 5th toes of the right foot and the big toe of the left foot to prevent symptoms from getting worse. Moth will undergo surgery on October 27th, and once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably. He can contribute $25, but needs help raising $563 more to fund his procedure and care. Moth said, “I hope this surgery will help my feet heal and reduce my pain. I want to use my hands more easily and return to work when I’m able. My wife is supporting our family alone right now, and I hope to recover so I can help her and rebuild our lives together.”

Kry is a 68-year-old woman from Cambodia. She is a retired textile handicraft worker. She is a widow, as her husband died in a land mine 43 years ago. She has one son and three grandchildren. She lives in the pagoda, likes to listen to the monks pray on the radio, and read books. About two years ago, Kry developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so she is not able to go places on her own. When Kry learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled three hours to seek treatment. On September 7th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. She can contribute $25, but needs help raising $238 more to fund her procedure and care. Kry said, "I hope after surgery my eye can see better so I can go out and recognize my relatives, read my books, and join ceremonies at the pagoda."

Rayan is a two-week-old baby boy from Tanzania. He is the only child in his family. His parents are farmers who cultivate maize to support their family. Rayan was born with clubfoot on his right foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. The tissues connecting the muscles to the bones are shorter than usual. This will affect his strength and mobility as he grows older. Rayan underwent casting to correct the position of his foot; however, when the cast was removed, a wound was discovered, and treatment was stopped. Fortunately, Rayan's mother was referred to our medical partner's care center, Kafika House, for specialized care. Rayan has been scheduled to begin gentle manipulation and casting to gradually improve his foot alignment. His treatment will begin on October 15th, and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $341 to fund Rayan's clubfoot repair. After treatment, his foot will be better aligned, and he will be able to crawl, walk, and play more comfortably as he grows. Rayan's mother shared, "After our first attempt at treatment, I was worried about my son's future. I am grateful that we have found another opportunity."
