Nicholas is a 40-year-old from Kenya and a dad to two daughters. Nicholas works a variety of labor jobs, and his wife is a homemaker. They also have a small piece of land where they plant maize. Their oldest daughter is in high school, while their youngest is in primary school. Nicolas was recently injured while working with a team preparing animal feeds. He was carrying a hay machine when one of the screws broke, causing Nicolas to receive a deep cut on his left hand and a broken radius (wrist). He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where the wound was sutured and dressed, and Nicolas returned home with an arm sling and medication to help with the pain. When he returned a few days later, the doctors confirmed that he needs an implant to stabilize the fracture. As this facility does not have a surgeon, Nicolas visited our medical partner’s care center for further treatment. The medical team stabilized the fracture with a splint and arm sling. Nicholas also spoke with the orthopedic surgeon, who told him that he must undergo surgery to align the broken bone. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), can help. After the swelling subsides, Nicholas will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation, on February 27th. This procedure will relieve his pain and allow his fracture to heal properly so he can return to work and care for his family. AMH is requesting $1,145 to fund this procedure. Nicholas said: “I have always worked hard in order to ensure that my family doesn’t lack. My hand is now injured, and I cannot work to earn a living. It is sad, but I am grateful to God for the gift of life. Kindly help me so that I may continue providing for my family.”

Dennis is a one-month-old baby boy and the firstborn child of his parents. Dennis and his parents live with Dennis' grandparents in Tanzania, where they rely on Dennis' grandfather for support. Dennis' grandfather- who is a construction technician and a farmer- provides for his wife, six of their children, and three grandchildren. Dennis was born with bilateral congenital contracture of his knees and bilateral clubfoot. His mother was devastated when these conditions were discovered, and she immediately started seeking treatment for Dennis. Fortunately, Dennis' mother was referred to our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, for treatment. As a result, Dennis will undergo clubfoot repair surgery on May 9th at Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre. After the surgery, Dennis will be able to wear shoes and walk easily. African Mission Healthcare Foundation is requesting $935 to fund Dennis' clubfoot repair. Dennis’ mother says: "I hope my son will get treatment to get better so that he gets to enjoy his life ahead."

Nhoeb is a 67-year-old retired rice farmer from Kompong Cham province in Cambodia. She has three sons, four daughters, and ten grandchildren. Nhoeb's husband is a monk and he and Nhoeb live in the pagoda, where Nhoeb helps with the cooking. About two years ago, Nhoeb developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her photophobia, itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. She experiences discomfort and, because of her impaired vision, she is uneasy about going out on her own. When Nhoeb learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours to seek treatment. On April 26th, doctors at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform small incision cataract surgery and implant an intraocular lens in her right eye. After recovery, Nhoeb should fully regain her ability to see clearly. Now, she needs your help to fund this $253 procedure. Nhoeb shared: "I hope after surgery my eye can see clearly again. I want to easily cook and read again."
