Pich is a 17-year-old young man from Cambodia. He is the youngest of two siblings and lives with his parents in Kampong Cham Province. His father works as a day laborer on a rubber farm, while his mother works in a garment factory. He left school while in Grade 10 and now works alongside his father to help the family. His favorite dish is korko fish soup. During his free time, he enjoys playing volleyball and football with his friends in the village. In April 2026, Pich was involved in a motorbike accident that caused serious injuries and nerve damage to his left arm. He lost consciousness and received stitches for multiple wounds on his left upper arm. He later sought traditional Khmer treatment, but his arm did not improve as he had hoped. Approximately six months after the accident, he has regained some movement in his shoulder and elbow, but he still cannot bend his elbow normally or move his wrist and fingers. He also experiences numbness in his left forearm and hand. He needs to undergo a tendon and nerve repair procedure to help regain strength and mobility. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is helping Pich receive treatment. He is scheduled to undergo the tendon and nerve repair procedure on October 22nd. His family can contribute $37.50, but needs help raising $664 more to help fund his procedure and care. Pich said, “Since my accident, I haven’t been able to use my left arm the way I used to, and it has made my daily life and work very difficult. I’m still young, and I want to regain movement in my arm so I can work and take care of myself again. I hope this surgery will give me a chance to improve and move toward a better future.”

Rodas is a four-year-old girl from Ethiopia. She lives in a loving home with her older sister, her stay-at-home mother who cares for her daily, and her father, who works tirelessly as an electrician to provide for the family. Despite their strong bond and dedication, her condition creates a heavy, continuous strain on their household. Three years ago, Rodas started to experience snoring, mouth breathing, struggling to swallow, and loss of appetite. Nights are especially grueling. Her swollen tonsils make breathing and sleeping difficult, leaving her parents awake for hours trying to soothe her pain, bring down fevers, and administer medication. This ongoing health struggle deeply affects her day-to-day life. Frequent sickness forces her to miss school, making it hard to keep up with her classmates or enjoy regular childhood activities. Rodas was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Our medical partner, Saglan Wajee General Hospital, is requesting $700 to fund a tonsillectomy for Rodas, which is scheduled to take place on July 20th. Surgeons will remove her tonsils, hopefully relieving Rodas of her symptoms and helping her live more comfortably. "We just want these painful nights to end. We want our little girl to sleep peacefully, play with her friends, and grow up healthy. Healing her will bring our family the peace we so desperately need," said Rodas's parents.

Nan Maw is a 24-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her friends in Bangkok in an apartment rented by their employer. She works as a waitress, while her brother and mother still live in their village in Karen State, Burma. When Nan Maw was healthy and working full-time, she would send half of her salary home to support her mother. She dreams of building a concrete house back home for her family. Nan Maw was born with an atrial septal defect (ASD), a condition in which a hole exists between the two upper chambers of the heart. Sometimes ASDs may close on their own during development, but sometimes this condition requires surgery to repair the hole and prevent long-term damage to the heart and lungs. Due to her condition, she can only engage in part-time work as she gets tired too easily. Nan Maw is scheduled to undergo heart surgery on August 31st at our medical partner's care center, Kasemrad Prachachuen Hospital, to correct her atrial septal defect and improve her quality of life. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to help cover the cost of Nan Maw's procedure and care. Nan Maw said, “I would like to thank your organization, BCMF, and your donors for your help. If you do not help me, I would have had to give up on my treatment because I know that I could not afford it by myself. I am very happy and thankful to all the donors. You have helped me feel that I can dream again. Before I developed these symptoms, I dreamed of working hard, saving money, building a house back home, and opening my own restaurant. Since I first noticed my symptoms, it felt like my dreams were lost. But now, I can dream again.”
