Wanyama is a 31-year-old porter from Uganda. He is single, and has no children. Both of his parents died when he was very young, and he was raised by his maternal aunt. He works as a porter, and sometimes loads sand on trucks for builders.
Wanyama has a long history of epigastric swelling and pain. He had never visited a hospital because he cannot afford treatment. Wanyama feels pain after meals, when he bends, and while sleeping. If left untreated, Wanyama may suffer many complications.
For $249, Wanyama will undergo the hernia repair surgery he needs. After surgery, Wanyama hopes to work hard and build himself a house.
“I’ve overstayed with a hernia. I will be very happy when I get assistance to remove it,” shared Wanyama.

Wanyama successfully received hernia repair surgery.
Wanyama is doing great and his surgery was a success. He is currently at home resting with his family, and already feeling so much better. He has shared that he feels much less pain now and is more calm and peaceful. Now that his hernia has been repaired, he is no longer at risk of intestinal incarceration, obstruction, or strangulation.
“I feel fine and happy. I pray that God gives energy to all people who have helped me so that they can also help other poor people,” shares Wanyama. “Thank you for helping me have surgery. I pray for God’s abundant blessings.”
