Legrand is a preschooler from Haiti. He lives with his mother, who works as a farmer and market vendor, and his grandmother in a small agricultural community in central Haiti. Legrand has a congenital heart condition called patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), in which an opening between two major blood vessels near his heart. This causes blood to flow abnormally, placing extra strain on his heart and contributing to weakness and difficulty gaining weight. Legrand needs to travel to the Dominican Republic to receive treatment. On October 21, he will undergo a procedure in which doctors will use a catheter to place a small device that closes the opening between the blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more normally. Another organization, the Haitian Hearts Foundation, is contributing $5,000 toward the cost of his treatment. Legrand's family also needs help to fund the costs of surgery prep. Our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, is requesting $1,500 to cover labs, medicines, and check-up and follow-up appointments. It also supports securing travel documents for the family and travel costs for the social workers from our medical partner, who will accompany Legrand's family overseas. Gay is a 24-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her mother, two sisters, two nephews, and her younger brother in a refugee camp in Thailand. She is a homemaker, while her mother, husband, and her brother-in-law work outside of the camp as day laborers. During her free time, she loves to weave Karen traditional clothes for an income, but she had to stop doing it due to her pregnancy. Gay is expecting her first baby, and doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section because of the premature rupture of membranes and a failed induction of labour. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Gay undergo a C-Section on October 27th at our medical partner's care center, Tha Song Yang Hospital. This procedure will cost $1,500, and Gay needs your support. Gay said, "Thank you very much to this organization and all the donors for your kind heart and support. If I have to pay it by myself, I would be in high debt, as the income our family makes is just enough to buy food and basic needs."

Gay is a 37-year-old man from Burma. He lives with extended family in a refugee camp in Tak Province, Thailand. Gay used to work at a shop loading and unloading supplies, but now he is unemployed. On June 12th, 2026, while he was standing suddenly, he heard a crack from his lower back close to his hip. The next day, he woke up with pain, stiffness, and leg weakness. He could only walk two or three steps before he could no longer stand. He is unable to walk or stand, and experiences persistent lower back pain, affecting his sleep. Gay was diagnosed with spinal cord compression with cauda equina syndrome, a neurosurgical emergency that occurs when the nerve roots at the very base of your lower spine are crushed or heavily squeezed. If left untreated, this compression can cause permanent neurological damage. With the help of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Gay will undergo surgery on June 25th. He needs help raising $1,500 to fund his treatment and care. This procedure will help Gay to be able to walk and be free from pain so that he can return to his work and earn an income. Gay said, “I could not sleep at night due to the pain, and I worried and thought about where to borrow money from, which made me very stressed. The amount of money that is required is such a burden for me, and I can never borrow that much money from anyone."
