“My dream is to learn how to read and write” Matinda says, who is seven years old and currently living with her uncle in Tanzania. Though she has not attended school yet, she has not given up on this dream.
Due to a burn on her right hand, Matinda has developed burn scar contracture on three fingers of her right hand. This condition is a shortening and hardening of the skin, muscles and tendons, and as a result, she is unable to use her right hand. In order to restore full function to her hand, including the ability to write without hindrance, she will require surgery and a skin graft.
Her uncle, who is a waiter at a local restaurant, has three children of his own and cannot afford to pay for the operation Matinda needs. For $1,080, we can help pay for Matinda’s surgery and skin graft!
