Ol is a retired rice farmer from Kampong Cham province who needs eye surgery to help him see clearly again. He and his wife have one daughter, three sons, and ten grandchildren. They used to be rice farmers, but now they are both retired and their living is supported by their children, who farm the same ancestral land. At home, Ol likes to listen to the radio when the monks are chanting and read books about the Buddha. One year ago, Ol developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him blurry vision. He used to help his wife with housework and cooking, but can no longer see well enough; he is frustrated that his vision has declined so quickly and shared that he feels useless to his family. When Ol learned about our medical partner Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On July 19th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery, and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Ol is able to contribute a small amount and he needs help with the remaining $253 to fully fund the procedure. Ol said, "I hope after surgery I will see better. I want to help the monks at the pagoda to teach and learn Buddhism and join their ceremonies easily."

Raphorn is a 27-year-old casino worker who lives in Prey Veang province with his parents and brother. His parents are rice farmers, and his brother repairs air conditioners. Several weeks ago, Raphorn accidentally cut his hand with a knife. He took care of his wound by visiting a pharmacy for dressings and medication, because he could not afford to visit a clinic. Several days after his accident, he noticed that the wound was red and swollen. He visited a nearby hospital, and the doctors informed him that he was suffering from cellulitis, a common but potentially serious bacterial skin infection, which would require an incision and drainage of the infected wound. The area surrounding the wound is now swollen, tender to the touch, and painful, and he is unable to work. When Raphorn learned about our medical partner Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. On July 25th, surgeons at CSC will perform debridement of the infected skin and skin flap surgery to heal the wound infection so that he can work with his hand again. Raphorn is able to contribute $100 to the cost of the surgery and needs help with $673 to fund his procedure and care. He shared, "After surgery, I hope that my hand looks good and the infection is gone so I can go to work again."

Chhin is a 73-year-old retired clothes seller from Phnom Penh. Chhin's husband passed away two years ago, leaving her widowed. She has one son, three daughters, and three grandchildren. She lives with her youngest daughter, who is a teacher. In her spare time, Chhin listens to the news and prayers from monks over the radio. About a year ago, Chhin developed a cataract in her left eye, causing itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. She can no longer see people, colors, or places clearly as the cataract continues to worsen. As a result, she can no longer walk to her local pagoda for prayers and feels lonely and isolated at home. When Chhin learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled for over an hour to seek treatment. Doctors at CSC were able to diagnose Chhin and create a treatment plan that will help fix her eyesight. On May 9th, doctors will perform cataract surgery and implant an intraocular lens in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. CSC is requesting $253 to help fund this procedure. Chhin said, "I am hoping to have successful surgery on my eye so that I can easily go out and recognize things, do household chores, and take care of myself and my grandchildren."
