Abebech is a 39-year-old nun from Ethiopia. She has devoted her life to serving others and works tirelessly for her church community by preparing meals, washing clothes, and handling every duty given to her. Abebech is currently suffering from a painful internal growth (myoma) that requires urgent medical care. Because she lives as a nun, she does not have family to lean on during this painful health trial and relies on the hospital and her community of nuns to get the care she needs to heal and continue her spiritual work. For four years, Abebech has been experiencing worrisome symptoms that make it difficult to live her daily life. She has been diagnosed with fibroids, which are benign growths in the uterus. Abebech needs to undergo a myomectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove the fibroids. Even though she believes that both joy and hardship are natural parts of life's journey, this illness has been truly overwhelming. Dealing with months of heavy bleeding, severe pain, and constant hospital visits—all without an income—leaves her feeling sad and frustrated at times. Fortunately, Abebech is scheduled to undergo a myomectomy on July 30th at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, Saglan Wajee General Hospital, is requesting $1,050 to fund her surgery. Abebech shared that she hopes this surgery will allow her to be free from pain so she can return to the peaceful, quiet routine of her daily life.

Srey Pich is a is cheerful and active girl from Cambodia. She lives in Kompot Province with her parents, who are both rice farmers. She is the only child in the family. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her toys. Srey Pich was born with congenital pseudarthrosis of the right tibia caused by neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). The condition caused her right lower leg to bow and fracture easily. Although she underwent reconstructive surgeries in 2024 and 2025, she later fell and re-injured her right leg. The condition causes pain, deformity, and difficulty walking. It limits her ability to run, play, and participate in childhood activities, and she requires ongoing orthopedic treatment to protect her leg and maintain bone healing. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On July 16th, Srey Pich will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will cost $600. This treatment will help stabilize her right leg, promote bone healing, improve her ability to walk safely, and allow her to continue growing and playing with greater confidence. Srey Pich's mother said, “Since she was born, we have worried about her leg and whether she would ever be able to walk normally. Seeing her take her first independent steps after surgery gave us so much hope. We pray this treatment will continue to strengthen her leg so she can keep walking, running, and enjoying her childhood like other children.”

Chantha is a 15-year-old girl from Cambodia. She lives in Kampong Chhnang Province with her parents, who work as rice farmers and factory workers. She is the eldest of two children and is in the ninth grade. She enjoys playing football with her friends, loves studying Khmer literature, and hopes to become a police officer in the future. When she was 6 years old, Chantha had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the eardrum, in her right ear to perforate. For this reason, Chantha experiences right ear pain, repeated ear discharge, ringing in the ear (tinnitus), and hearing loss. Her symptoms became much worse after water entered her ear during the Khmer New Year 2026. The chronic ear infection and hearing loss make it difficult for her to hear clearly in daily life and at school. The repeated pain and discharge also affect her comfort and confidence. Chantha traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On July 14th, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her right ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $363 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care. Chantha said, “I’m happy to finally have the opportunity for surgery. I hope my ear will heal well, my hearing will improve, and I can leave this problem behind and move forward with confidence.”
