Yohannes is a lively toddler from Ethiopia. He delights in exploring his surroundings, enjoys playing with other children, and cherishes the moments spent with his mother. His mother is a dedicated homemaker who also helps her husband on their small farm. Although they work hard, the produce from their land often falls short of meeting the family’s needs. To supplement their income, both parents take on additional work on neighboring farms.
Yohannes was born with an anorectal malformation, a congenital abnormality that leads to a complete or partial intestinal blockage. He needs to undergo a series of procedures to eliminate bowel dysfunction.
Yohannes was referred to our medical partner’s care center, Bethany Kids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre. He is scheduled to undergo surgery on April 9th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of Yohannes’s procedure and care. After his recovery, Yohannes will no longer experience bowel dysfunction or be at risk of developing health complications in the future.
Yohannes’ mother said, “I will be happy if my child heals and starts a normal life like other children. I no longer want to see him suffer as a result of this condition.”
