Siria is 28 years old and a small-scale farmer from Uganda. When her father passed away, it brought life to a standstill for the family, as he had been their sole breadwinner. She, along with her siblings, all dropped out of school because their mother, a farmer, could not afford the school fees. Being the firstborn, Siria decided that getting a job to help her mother care for her siblings was the best option. She started working as a supermarket attendant and, with the little she earned, managed to send all her siblings back to school. Siria got married, and now has two children. She practices farming, mainly growing food crops for home consumption and selling the surplus to generate income for the family. During her free time, she enjoys cooking, especially matoke and beans, her favorite meal.
Siria is currently expecting her third child. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section because of a high-risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Siria undergo a C-Section on January 15th. This procedure will cost $252, and Siria needs your support.
Siria says, “With the type of farming we do, I don’t think I will be able to raise the amount of money they need for my surgery. I kindly appeal for your support to make my surgery possible.”
