Neema is a two-month-old girl from Tanzania, the second-born child in her family. She lives with both her parents, who rely on farming to provide for their household. Her parents are grateful for their daughter and dream of seeing her grow into a healthy, active, and independent young girl. Neema has clubfoot on right foot, a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. The tissues connecting the muscle to the bones are shorter than usual and this causes difficulty with mobility. To correct her foot and give her the best chance of a healthier future, Neema requires treatment through a series of manipulations and casts, followed by a tenotomy procedure. Afterward, she will need to wear a Foot Abduction Brace (FAB) until the age of five to help maintain the correction and prevent the condition from recurring. Fortunately, Neema's family traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, Kafika House, where doctors will begin clubfoot treatment on June 23rd. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $341 to fund Neema's clubfoot repair. After treatment, she will be able to run, play with other children her age, and participate fully in daily activities. Neema's mother says, "I hope she will be able to play and participate in activities with other children, without me having to worry how she will be able to walk and run."

Davin is 26 years old and a mother of one from Cambodia. She lives in Kampong Speu province with her three-year-old daughter and her elderly mother. Her husband currently works in Korea and sends money home to support the family. Before her injury, she worked in a garment factory to help provide for her household. In her free time, she takes care of household chores and plants vegetables around her home. Two years ago, Davin was involved in a road traffic accident that caused a closed fracture of her right proximal tibia. After the accident, she immediately underwent an open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) surgery. Her leg was immobilized in a cast for two weeks, and the stitches were removed during the second week. Over time, her foot gradually became stiff. The metal plates were removed, but she developed an equinus foot deformity, causing her to walk on her tiptoes. This condition makes it difficult for her to walk long distances and causes pain during daily activities. Seeking further help, she traveled two hours to our medical partner's care center, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), for evaluation and treatment. At CSC, she will receive specialized care to correct the position of her foot. With proper treatment and recovery, the surgery is expected to help straighten her foot, reduce pain, and allow her to walk more comfortably and return to her daily activities. She can contribute $100, but needs help to raise $482 more to fund her procedure and care. Davin said, “After the surgery, I hope this treatment will help me straighten my foot so I can walk normally again and return to my daily life without pain.”

They understand the importance of early intervention and are determined to support her throughout the treatment process. Riziki has clubfoot on both feet, a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. The tissues connecting the muscle to the bones are shorter than usual and this causes mobility challenges. She is required to undergo a series of corrective casts applied over several weeks to gradually align her foot. After the casting phase, she will undergo a tenotomy, a minor surgical procedure performed to release the tight Achilles tendon and improve foot position. Following successful correction, Riziki will be fitted with a Foot Abduction Brace (FAB), which she must wear as prescribed until the age of five to maintain the correction and prevent relapse. Fortunately, Riziki's family traveled to our medical partner's care center, Kafika House. Doctors will begin clubfoot treatment on June 23rd. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $341 to fund Riziki's clubfoot correction. After treatment, Riziki's mobility will be better as he grows up. Riziki's mother says, "I wish for my daughter to be treated, so that when she grows up, she can contribute to the society, healthier."
