Soy is a 65-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She lives in Kampong Speu Province with her husband. They have no children and earn their living by growing rice together. In her free time, she enjoys going to the pagoda and listening to monks prayers. In January 2025, Soy was involved in a road traffic accident that caused an open fracture of her right shin bone. She underwent surgery where doctors inserted a metal nail to stabilize the fractured bone. Her fracture has healed well, and she has regained normal movement and sensation. The metal implant is no longer needed and requires removal to complete her treatment. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On July 13th, Soy will undergo a surgical hardware removal procedure, allowing her to continue farming and carrying out her daily activities comfortably. Soy is contributing to her treatment but needs $353 more to fund the procedure. She said, “My leg has healed well, and I hope this final surgery is the last step. I’m looking forward to returning home, doing my daily work, and moving around with confidence again.”

Elsa is a 77-year old woman from the Philippines. She enjoys spending time with her neighbors, whose companionship provides her with emotional support and a sense of community. She also takes light walks around her neighborhood to stay active and maintain her health despite her condition. However, her condition has increased the financial burden on her family, who now shoulder her medical expenses. Three months ago, Elsa began to experience troubling symptoms, including abdominal pain. Elsa was diagnosed with gallstones and has been advised to undergo a cholecystectomy, the surgical removal of the gallbladder. If left untreated, her symptoms will continue to worsen and put her at risk for further health complications in the future. After seeking treatment through our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), Elsa is scheduled to undergo a cholecystectomy on July 18th. A portion of the procedure's cost is being covered by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and WSFP is raising the remaining $1,031 to cover the cost of Elsa's surgery and care. Elsa shared, "I am truly grateful for the opportunity to receive free treatment. I look forward to recovering so I can enjoy more time with my family and continue living a healthy and active life."

Panhavorn is an 18-year-old young man who makes pots to help support his family from Cambodia. He lives with his parents and younger sister. His father works in construction, while his mother sells food from a small stall near their home, and his younger sister is still in school. He enjoys playing football with friends, listening to music, and spending time with his family. On September 13, 2026, Panhavorn was involved in a road traffic accident, after crashing into another motorbike. He sustained a fracture of his right leg and fractures of both bones in his left forearm. The fractures have caused swelling and pain in his right leg and left forearm, particularly when he moves. A small skin laceration near the right leg fracture also adds to his current difficulties. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On September 16th, Panhavorn will undergo a fracture repair procedure to stabilize his hand and leg, and support the healing of his fractures to help restore movement. As he recovers, the treatment may allow him to gradually return to making pots and dishes, and resume his usual daily activities. Panhavorn's family is contributing to his treatment, but needs to raise an additional $500 for the procedure. His father said, “I hope the surgery will help my son’s broken leg and arm heal well, so he can move without so much pain. He works hard to help our family, and I hope he will recover soon, return to work, and get back to his regular life.”
