Jonah is a 60-year-old farmer who lives with her husband in the southwestern district of Rukungiri, Uganda. She farms with her husband on a small scale due to limited land, but also does casual labor on other people's gardens to complement her income. She is a mother of six sons and two daughters who are married. Jonah has had a swelling at the back of her neck for the past two years. The swelling causes backache and headaches which hinder her work. The doctor recommended an excision treatment for a complete recovery. However, she is unable to fund the surgery and needs support. Jonah traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On March 7th, surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Jonah needs help to raise $137 to fund this procedure. Jonah says, "I hope to be relieved from the symptoms that have always caused me pain once I am operated on and be able to work normally."

Srey Tin is a clever third-grader from Cambodia. She lives with her parents and her 2-month-old sister in Banteay Mean Chey province. Her parents work in their village as rice and potato farmers. Srey Tin's favorite subjects are science and reading, and she would like to be a nurse someday. For the past two years, Srey Tin has been experiencing a sore throat and difficulty swallowing. Her symptoms have affected daily activities like attending school and eating. Srey Tin was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if left untreated, will cause her symptoms to persist and potentially intensify over time. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $265 to fund a procedure to remove Srey Tin's tonsils and adenoid glands. The surgery is scheduled to take place on March 16th. After the procedure, Srey Tin will hopefully be relieved of her symptoms and live much more comfortably. Her mother hopes she will feel better after surgery and be able to return to school.

Sanyu is a farmer and a mother of eight children. Her oldest three daughters are married and the rest are still in school. Sanyu is a widow, whose husband died in 2015, but with farming, she has been able to raise her children and sustain a living. Sanyu and her family live in a three-room, unfinished, semi-permanent house, which her husband was building at the time he passed. Eight years ago, Sanyu began to experience troubling symptoms, including heart palpitations, persistent headaches, shortness of breath, and difficulty breathing. She was diagnosed with a goiter, an abnormal enlargement of the thyroid gland. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Sanyu receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on February 10th at our medical partner's care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $252, and she and her family need help raising money. Sanyu says “This is my only hope of getting better. My hope is in your support; without it, I have no other way of undergoing my surgery.”
