Zaw Min is a 54-year-old man from Burma. He lives with his wife, son, and grandson in Tak Province, Thailand. Before his worsening condition, he ran a bicycle repair shop. However, he had to stop working three months ago due to his deteriorating health. His wife works as a vegetable seller and their income is insufficient to cover their daily expense and basic health care needs. The family has taken out a loan with interest to help cover Zaw Min’s medical expenses.
Around three months ago, Zaw Min began to experience troubling symptoms, including back pain and he felt like he could not empty his bladder fully. After investigations, he was diagnosed with ureteric stones and the doctor recommended a ureteroscopy to better evaluate him, and a surgery to remove the ureteric stones. Currently, Zaw Min is experiencing difficulty urinating and is using a catheter for assistance.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Zaw Min receive treatment and has requested for $1,500 for his treatment. The procedure is scheduled to take place on November 26th at Mae Sot General Hospital. Once completed, his symptoms will hopefully be alleviated.
Zaw Min said “I feel worried and sad because I cannot afford the cost of my surgery. Since my condition worsened, I have been unable to work and leaving my family without an income. I want to recover quickly so I can support of my family again.”
