Elisha is a five-year-old boy from Tanzania. He is the youngest of five children. His parents are farmers.
Elisha was born with bilateral clubfeet, meaning his feet are twisted out of their correct shape. Previous treatment led to limited success. Doctors at our medical partner plan to use the Ponseti method to treat Elisha, which they hope will lead to a better outcome. This method uses a series of casts to slowly reshape a child’s feet.
Elisha will began treatment on November 22. Eventually, he should gain mobility, wear normal shoes, walk with a corrected gait. Now, his family needs help to fund this $1,160 procedure.
“I would like my child to wear normal shoes and step on the sole of his foot like other children,” says Elisha’s mother.
