This is Ma Nay, a 43-year-old woman who lives in Burma. “Ma Nay has worked on the farm since she was a young girl,” our medical partner, Burma Border Projects, writes. “But now she has health problems and she cannot work like before.”
Ma Nay has had a uterine mass since she was 34. In the last month, however, the pain in her stomach and her uterus has been greater. In addition, Ma Nay has also experienced constipation and has had difficulty urinating. “She experiences back pain when she sits for long periods of time,” BBP writes. “The mass is so large that she can feel its hardness from the outside of her clothes.”
Doctors have recommended a surgical procedure to address the mass and relieve Ma Nay’s pain. The procedure, including hospitalization, medication, and outpatient care, will cost $1500.

“After surgery Ma Nay is much better and no longer has a mass in her uterus,” her doctors at our partner Burma Border Projects write, “She can sleep and eat well. She is now able to run her own errands. She is very pleased with her current condition and no longer feels worried about her health or the future.”
Ma Nay says, “I thank all of the people who helped me get treatment. In the future, when I completely heal I plan to continue my work on the farm and be self sufficient like before. Now I can live a happy life.”
