This is Ma Nay, a 43-year-old woman who lives in Burma. "Ma Nay has worked on the farm since she was a young girl," our medical partner, Burma Border Projects, writes. "But now she has health problems and she cannot work like before."
Ma Nay has had a uterine mass since she was 34. In the last month, however, the pain in her stomach and her uterus has been greater. In addition, Ma Nay has also experienced constipation and has had difficulty urinating. "She experiences back pain when she sits for long periods of time," BBP writes. "The mass is so large that she can feel its hardness from the outside of her clothes."
Doctors have recommended a surgical procedure to address the mass and relieve Ma Nay's pain. The procedure, including hospitalization, medication, and outpatient care, will cost $1500.
