Kop is a loving grandmother from Phnom Penh. She is 68 years old, married, and has six children - three sons and three daughters - and ten grandchildren. Her life now revolves around her grandchildren, who are her pride and joy. Kop used to sell fish at the market until, she shared, she became too old to do so. Her children also support her financially. In her free time, she loves listening to monks pray on the radio. About one year ago, Kop developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. She has difficulty cleaning the house or using the stove to cook due to her limited vision. She also has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so is unable to go out on her own. When Kop learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled there hoping for treatment. Fortunately, the doctors at CSC were able to quickly diagnose Kop's cataract and created a treatment plan. On July 13th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery, and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. CSC is requesting $253 to help fund this procedure. Kop said, "After the surgery, I hope to see better and would like to sell Khmer cheese. That way, I can earn some money for myself and help my family."

Sitheny is a 40-year-old tailor from Cambodia. She and her husband have one daughter and two sons. Their daughter is eighteen and studies in grade 11, their older son is fourteen and studies in grade 7, and their youngest son does not attend school yet. He stays home with Sitheny, who works from home with her sewing machine to make clothes for local stores. Sitheny's husband works in construction. In her free time, Sitheny likes to spend time with and cook for her family. In October 2021, Sitheny fell off a motorbike, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she was unable to receive treatment at the time. She has been taking medication for the pain, but it is challenging for her to walk, and she has chronic pain in her knee. When a relative told her about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), she was able to visit the care center for review. Sitheny has a malunion in her left femur, which occurs when a broken bone heals in an abnormal position. On July 18th, she will undergo fracture repair surgery to correct the alignment of her fractured bone, allowing her to walk again without pain and relieving the stress on her kneecap. CSC is requesting $483 to fund this surgery, and Sitheny contributed $100 to her care. Sitheny shared: "I am in pain and feel helpless because I cannot do many things. I hope to walk well again so I can take care of my family."

Pisey is a 49-year-old husband and father from Cambodia. He lives with his wife and 15-year-old son. He has a mobile food business where he sells local spices around town. His wife works as a dishwasher in a local restaurant, and his son is in the ninth grade at the local school. Pisey has had diabetes for several years and has had trouble controlling his disease due to the lack of specialized health care available in his village. Several months ago, he stubbed his right toe and it became infected, which can occur in people with diabetes. As a result, his toe has become swollen and discolored and he is in pain. Pisey is unable to walk on his injured foot and cannot ride his motorbike to sell spices. Fortunately, Pisey's local clinic told him about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). He has been diagnosed with a gangrenous big toe by the surgeons at CSC. On September 8th, he will undergo an amputation of his toe, because gangrene can lead to serious complications if it is not treated quickly. Now, he needs help raising $479 to fund his procedure and care. Pisey shared, "I hope that I can walk again after surgery so I can return to selling my spices and supporting my family."
