Jhennyfer is an 8-year-old girl who lives in southwest Bolivia. She loves math and playing with her friends. Her mother had Jhennyfer at a young age and visits her on the weekends, as Jhennyfer lives with her grandmother. Her grandmother is a primary school teacher.
Jhennyfer has a cardiac condition called atrial septal defect, which means there is a hole in the upper chambers of her heart. Blood leaks through the hole, leaving her weak and impacting her development. Fortunately, on June 25th, Jhennyfer will undergo cardiac surgery at our medical partner’s care center. During surgery, surgeons will repair her heart and plug the hole so that blood can no longer leak through.
Jhennyfer’s family needs help to fund the costs of cardiac care and surgery. Our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, requests $1,500 to cover the cost of cardiac exams and diagnostics, surgical fees, follow-up care, and medications.
Jhennyfer’s grandmother said, “I was praying a lot, so my granddaughter receives her life-saving surgery. She is my treasure to me; she is like my daughter!”
