Eh Lel is a lively six-year-old girl who lives with her parents, sister, and extended family. She likes to play with her friends and watch movies on television. She is quick to smile and is inquisitive about her surroundings.
Eh Lel is not in school yet, but she looks forward to starting kindergarten this coming year. Her father is a subsistence farmer who works his own rice paddy.
When Eh Lel was one month old, her mother noticed a spot on her lower spine. Gradually, a bulge developed and became painful. When Eh Lel reached one year of age, her parents brought her to a hospital. She was diagnosed with spinal dysphrasism, a neurological condition affecting the spinal cord.
Eh Lel’s doctor warned that without treatment, the condition would only worsen over time. On November 14, she underwent a CT scan. The results of this scan will allow her doctor to make a full diagnosis and develop a treatment plan to remove the bulge from her spine.
Our medical partner is requesting $814 to fund this procedure.
Eh Lel’s father says, “I want my daughter to go to school for an education and grow up to be whatever she wishes.”
